Beamer is a likeable person, and his players love him. He doesn't call plays or coach positions. His job is to get the right coaches in those positions. We will always be a program that will be on the fringe of a great season and the disappointing lows that always seem to follow a great season. That is the "new" college football model thanks to the portal and NIL. We have no real tradition (I do not consider Spurrier's 3, 11-2 season tradition) so that is not going to be a drawing card for us. We need an OL coach and Elliot could be a very good one as he has proven in the past. He can't fix several years of bad coaching in 2 games. The OC is where Beamer has to get it right. It could be an "up and coming" coach (they all are at one point, even the best) or a more seasoned one who is still young enough to be open minded. Replacing Beamer at this point is idiotic at best. He needs to lose his 'loyalty' to bad hires, or he will never make it in the SEC or anywhere else... OK "SEC RANT" done. We keep Beamer and ride it out for now.

Yeah the guy who’s 0-3 on OC hires is totally gonna figure it out now that he’s totally dead in the water

I disagree.

No it’s not.

Wouldn’t that be hypocritical?

Hopefully Coastal changes that this weekend. I’m not confident in that happening, but anything is possible.

I'm of the opinion that if Beamer hasn't done anything by now he's not going to. Also, and I don't say this to be critical, but I'm not sure USCe fans have the mentality NC or Bust. I lived in SC for years. They are great people. As a collective they are the best people you will ever meet. They love football, and their greatest passion is beating Clemson, but IMHO they are not laser focused on winning the NC: being content with a "good season." Much the same way as UK is content with a "good season." UGA fired Richt and he averaged 10 wins/year. They would have fired Beamer by now. Same with LSU, Bama, and a hand full of other schools whose goal is the NC. I don't know if USCe will fire Beamer or not, but I'm certain by now you have seen the results you can expect from him in the future.

Hopefully after Saturday he will learn you shouldn't walk into halftime telling the reporters that "we beat these guys by 24 last year" and pumping up the crowd like you already won. He was begging for karma to bite him in the arse.

I do agree this is a bad time to replace Beamer, I would hate to be looking in this coaching market with so many top jobs open and a short supply of available top tier coaches. I think Beamer is capable. I just lost a lot of respect for him pulling that stunt on Saturday, as a coach you never want to get cocky like that with half of the game to play on the road.

TiptonInSC I went to South Carolina so I am not a band wagon fan. That said... you are delusional if you think this is the time to replace Beamer. Yes.. with mediocre programs like Penn St, Florida and a host of others looking for coaches we could actually pull a rabbit out of our hat (insert sarcasm here). Not !!!!!! He doesn't call the plays either... geez... clueless at best. Hypocritical??? Now you are just being dumb. The Coastal game won't have an effect one way or the other... timing and money absolutely will.

Even if all that is true, he’s the one who decided not to kick the FG that would have put the game out of reach for aTm.

That alone is a fireable offense .

For 40 years, I have loved the Gamecocks. It's my alma mater, so they'll always be part of me, but I'm done with the football program. Decades of mediocrity and falling on our face at the most inopportune times have made me completely numb. I cut the game off at halftime because I knew exactly what was going to happen. I posted it in the game thread.

Shane Beamer is a loser and a crybaby. He's someone with a job because of who his father is. Old Dominion didn't want him, but we somehow gave him the keys to our football program when he'd only been a position coach. We hired a guy to coach our program because Stephen Garcia laughed at his fart jokes a decade earlier. That makes us even bigger losers than Shane.

There's an awful lot of "we're just happy to be here" ingrained in SC's collective mentality.

I've lost all respect I had for Beamer. He still behaves like a child. He thought the game was over, but he was the only person in SC colors who actually thought that.

Unfortunately, we don't have the scratch to fire him, because of a stupid contract our former AD gave him. He's made this school the laughing stock of the CFB world this weekend. And that alone is fireable.

But, we're broke. We're poorly run. And we have no one coming over the hill to save us. I love my alma mater, but I despise its athletic department.

I'm shocked Beamer wasn't fired Sunday morning. He made a fool of himself celebrating at halftime like the game was already over only to lose a 30 points leave and not even score in the second half. Coaches have been fired for less.

To be fair, I think that was at the visitor's section.

He's still a functional retard, though.

Shatterfield was bad, and Shula was the worst in my lifetime, but looking back Lowgains was passable.

Look the loss was BAD. But we were 20 point underdogs in the game. It was supposed to be a blow out. The 2nd worst team in the SEC ran out of gas on the road vs the best team in the SEC. Taken as a whole It's not AS BAD as many folks are making it. Painful? Yes. But the team played hard. A&M just wanted it more.

Furthermore, they had Bama on the ropes just a couple of weeks ago. It's been a disappointing season but with the exception of Vandy (where Sellers go hurt) and Okie SC has been in every game they've played. They breaks just haven't gone their way. Not a single one.

SC is the best 3-7 team in the nation.

Not good enough.

There is enough talent on the roster that, if coached properly, this team should have had playoff expectations. Those were not unreasonable, based on who was on the field.

But the fact that it doesn't is 100% on Shane and his inability to hire a competent offensive staff.

I don't think another HC will recruit as well as he does, for sure. But there are loads, who are attainable, that would be better game day coaches. If I had the money, I'm firing Shane yesterday for the embarrassment he brought to the university and forcing Bob Chesney to day no.

Absolutely worst-case scenario, you fire him and give the reins to Clayton White for a year or two until you have identified your guy and brought him home. Shane doesn't have the mentality to be a head coach. The UTK fans who have called him Butch Jones 2.0 are 100% correct. He's Butch with better players, and that's a disgrace.

Never should have lost to aTm. Never should have lost to Bama. You probably shouldn't have lost to Mizzou, considering you were leading in the 4th. There is no killer instinct on this team, and that falls on the recruiting coordinator posing as a head coach.

Sellers, Stewart, and Harbor will all be gone next year. May as well get started on the rebuild.

Aye, and you and me were texting about it at halftime. I even told my son when we were up that they would lose. He wasn't even fazed.

Sadly, neither was I.

Beamer (from my viewpoint) has hit his ceiling as a coach. Anyone who hires Mike Shula as their offensive coordinator in 2025 shouldn't be a head coach. It's been known damn near two decades the guy sucks as an OC and I'm not sure he's that good of a QB coach either. He's ridden his last name for most of his coaching career.

I'm sorry, and with all due respect: That's BULL CRAP!!!!!

It’s pretty easy for a Georgia fan to take shots at South Carolina’s program and act like we just don’t want it badly enough, but that completely ignores the realities we fight against every single season. South Carolina has invested just as heavily in facilities, and resources as any top program, but we’re working from a fundamentally different starting point. For example, Metro Atlanta alone has more people than the entire state of South Carolina, which means Georgia has a massive built-in recruiting advantage that we’ll never be able to match no matter how hard we work or how much we spend. And unlike Georgia, we have to split our already small talent pool with another national power right in our backyard. So when Georgia fans like you sit back and take shots at our program, we’re grinding year after year because we love this program and believe that we can achieved something bigger (even if it's a far fetched dream). If just based on how much crap the typical SC fan has put up with watching this team of the years, no other fanbase is more deserving of success than SC (well, maybe state or vandy).

And furthermore, that’s why when last year’s bullcrap loss to LSU on a AWFUL call by the ref hurts even more in hindsight. It cost us a shot at the CFP and opportunities like that are rare for programs like ours. We may not see another chance at that level for years, if ever.

I've said it before on here. I have resigned myself to knowing I'll die before SC wins a championship in football. That's an awful thought to have in your brain.
