I really like this trio. These guys have been dominant this year. Our depth/talent has been tested this year and these guys have responded better than anyone could have imagined. Even the 2nd team has dudes. If Searls can keep his shite together, he’s got some toys to work with in the upcoming years.

The backup center Cortez Smith is supposed to be really good too

But yes, future of oline may be as bright as it has ever been.

I’ve been really happy with them recently…especially since TN when the right side was just getting abused. Hard to believe we have two freshman starting on Oline. If we can hold onto most of these players on both sides of the ball we’ll be really good for the next couple years.

I don't know how much credit the Phil Rauscher guy deserves. But I do know that Fairchild and Ratledge are both starting in the NFL and our O line is 20 times better this season. Sometimes the corny line about Xs and Os and Jimmys and Joes is overrated. We're doing better with an undersized true freshman at right guard than we were with a guy who's starting in the NFL right now. Coaching matters at offensive line probably more than any other position except quarterback. Boise State's offensive line handled our defensive line about 15 years ago even though their offensive linemen looked like our defensive linemen's little brothers.

Rauscher has been in the collegiate and NFL coaching ranks for 15 years, coaching the offense at both the NFL and collegiate levels. He most recently served as the Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line coach and run game coordinator for three seasons after stints with the Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins (now Commanders) and Minnesota Vikings.

With the talent gap in CFB shrinking, coaching becomes more important. We are definitely getting better coaching on the OL this year

Yeah… I never saw anything of this. I noticed immediate improvement game 1. I also stated preseason that this group could make or break UGA. They have definitely exceeded my expectations.

Yeah, supposedly the Cortez Smith kid was one of the best bets to be a multi year starter in our last recruiting class.

Jahzere Jackson is the really interesting one. He played left tackle yesterday in the fourth quarter and looked like the Leonard Pope version of a tackle standing out there.

Really struggled against UT. He’s still learning the position but probably has the best footwork out of all the guys being a high recruit in basketball. Once he gets it, he’ll lock his position down. He looked good yesterday.

This board is so knee-jerk.

O-line plays bad- Fire Searles

O-line plays good vs outmatched/unranked Ms St- We're heading to the 'ship!

If they keep it rolling vs Texas, I'll feel much better. I'm still in wait-and-see mode with the OL. Indications are good... but do it again and I'll be sold.

Only like 2 of you on here didn’t and you are the same ones who want Richt to still be here coaching.

In first few games we were injured but also running stupid arse plays not helping our cause.

As we healed and Gunner was allowed to throw more than a bubble screen, we have gotten better.

Each week, assessments change based on the data shown. Not everyone is a Disney just because it’s your team. It’s alright to call shite out when it’s bad or not working.

True… although I can’t speak for others. You aren’t wrong. People call for firings every thread. I pretty much thought preseason our O-Line could be the difference. Ground breaking I know. This group just seems to actually block better so maybe that means something.

I think the problem is just they are young and they were thrown into different combinations because of injuries. When you're used to a certain player on your right and left, then suddenly, its someone else, there's less continuity.

Say what you want, but Searles can recruit. Look at the recruiting classes and the players we have starting now, Freeling, Gaston, Greene, Morris, etc They were all 4 and 5 star/top 10 players. Even the backups, Calhoun, Uni, etc., they were pretty high ranked recruits.

It's the timeless tale of college football. Every season people forget that these players are still learning the game, now more than ever, and draw worthless conclusions about which players and coaches and teams are champions or losers.

It's called data points, would you like everyone to wait until the end of the season and provide their assessment then in full to you?

Would that help the coping ?

eehh...opinions can change over time as we are introduced to new information. Early in the season our OL did kinda suck, especially when trying the jaz Jackson/mike uini experiment which was disastrous all the way around. Greene wasn't healthy either.

Having Greene/glover/gaston all healthy was just what we needed and we're now seeing the positive results.

Some people have a hard time assessing the reality of what’s going on. We struggled early due to injuries and youth - and now they’re performing better. I was pretty vocal with how bad the right side of the line looked early in but wasn’t calling for heads.

Firing errybody was never going to give our oline more experience or get them healthy. The best thing we can do moving forward is try to keep these guys and build better depth.
