How Much Worse Off Would LSU Be If They’d Kept O?

Kelly did win a west division title. But LSU had to spend an extra $77 million dollars to do it - O’s $17 million buy out, Kelly’s $53 million buy out and Woodward’s $6 million dollar buy out.

Honestly, how much worse off could LSU be at this very moment if they had just kept O?

LSU's supporters have plenty of dough. FACT.

O was a loser. Sorry. If he had stayed, LSU would have had more losing seasons like his last 2.

How come we can tiptoe but don’t have toetips but we have fingertips but can’t tipfinger?

You should ask harder questions.

Not every thought. I also like to laugh at the New Orlean’s Saints 1-8 record.

What is more painful at the moment? Being a Saint’s fan or a LSU fan?

Neither is painful. Saints have sucked the majority of my life . We are used to it.
As far as LSU goes they made a mistake hiring Kelly but at least they are righting the ship and not letting it continue. I would think the majority of LSU fans should be elated .
But as for you, you are obsessed and your every thought consumed by someone else’s school. That’s just sad and pathetic ma’am.

Would he have kept doing hookers and blow in the locker room while his girlfriend ran practices or would he have started coaching again in your scenario?

They would have been better off. Decent chance that Daniels still calls LSU to play there with our WR and OL talent.

Well considering he had two losing seasons, it could be much worse.

Who knows. Let’s say he just kept partying and O averaged 6-6 instead of 9-3 like Kelly. Kelly didn’t make the playoffs the last four years. He didn’t win a meaningful post season game. Having O wouldn’t have really cost LSU anything other than some meaningless regular season wins and bowl games no one cares about.

Are a few additional meaningless wins each season worth spending $76-77 million, the equivalent of $19 million/year?

He had one losing season. He went 5-5 in 2020. LSU had self imposed a bowl ban. The next season he finished the regular season 6-6 and lost the Texas Bowl. If not for the bowl ban O would have made a bowl game every season at LSU.

Assuming O had gone .500, then LSU would have missed out on 10-12 relatively meaningless wins over four years. Each one of them cost LSU $6 to $7 million a piece. That is a negative return on investment.

Ironically, Coach O’s last bowl game at LSU was the Texas Bowl. Brian Kelly’s last bowl game at LSU was the Texas Bowl.

The good news for LSU is that even though you don’t have a head coach, an athletic director or a school president and Todd Graves wallet is $60 million lighter, LSU is still in better shape than Auburn.

That should be a bannable offense right there.
