On the Triple Option Show today, Urban Meyer says that he heard that Louisiana Governor helped get Kelly Fired. He states that he doesn't know if it's true or not. But doesn't think Governors should be deciding if College Head Coaches get fired. Thoughts? Anyone in Louisiana hear this?

Yes he absolutely was involved . Louisiana governors have always played a role in LSU both athletically and academically

Not in LA but I did hear the rumors that he was involved. Would think he has more important things to do.

Football and politics are intertwined these days

LSU doesn't currently have a president. Because of that, the governor gets involved. Those who call the state "backwoods" and other assorted insults probably have never sat in a college classroom, and do not understand how the political process works. The governor did what he was expected to do. If LSU had a president, the governor would not have gotten involved. All protocols (too big of a word for "aspiclark") were followed.

He was involved. As said by others Louisiana has always had politics intermingle with football.
The extra layer this time is that the university doesn’t have a President currently. We are about a month out from hiring one, and the AD who wasted 100 million on Kelly is probably a lame duck so the Governor has a window to step in more openly than before and hav less people balk at it.

Brian kelly is/was technically an employee of the state, so that puts him under the governor....our governor appoints people to the board of regents over state schools.

Just curious, who will that be? Word in Lexington, Dr Cupaluto is retiring and Dr. Eric Monday will be the next President of University of Kentucky.

This is the correct answer.
That being said it was an awkward look from the outside but I understood why it was happening.

Athletically yes
Academically no
LSU education is about like what an elementary school student goes through in every other state

There is a publicly available shortlist with common perception being that Landry is pushing very hard for McNeese’s president, but there is a growing rumor that Congresswoman Letlow will be considered as well.

The same could be said of a Tennessee Degree.

This is common. Most high paid college football coaches are employees of the state, if they are employed by state universities

The university has an interim president. The governor is involved because he is involved in that process.

They have an interim president, surely he’s doing something, too.
