Outside of Urban Meyer, the list of “failed” coaches since the Spurrier era is a long one. And honestly, even calling them failures is misleading, most of those coaches were winning games and taking Florida to bowl appearances.

The problem isn’t coaching; it’s expectation. Florida fans keep acting like another national championship is just around the corner, but let’s be real, most of today’s recruits weren’t even born the last time the Gators won one. It’s time for a little perspective and humility. The glory days don’t come back just because you expect them to.

I mean what kind of idiotic program bails on a coach that can make the Outback Bowl in any given year?

The vast majority of CFB coaches end up fired at some point or another. Sabans and Bowdens are the exception, not the rule.

That list shows me, even post spurrier, they've enjoyed more success than Ole Miss has since integration

Remember when McElwain got fired for faking death threats.

How can you say this as an ole miss fan.

UF will always remain a top job. Storied program and plenty money.

If any program is where coaches go to fail, it’s ole miss outside of Kiffin.

UF has just hired head scratchers that everyone said would flop besides muschamp honestly.

Nobody thought Mullen would flop, but he stopped coaching, so you're kind of out of options at that point.

McElwain went 33-36 at Central Michigan and couldn’t even keep his job there. Yeah, Florida made a real mistake getting rid of that clown.

Napier just needed 8-4 to keep his job. He was given a fourth season while sitting on an overall losing record. So what are you even talking about?

He wasn’t a good coach. He could have been, but he let his ego get in the way and never once let anyone else call plays. Everyone in the stadium knew exactly what he would call in critical situations.

Well it should have been, with the hopes of making a title run every few years. Saban has done a number on some of the SEC. Getting a NC every 1-3 years is not sustainable for any school and should not be expected.

The goal now is make the playoffs, and see what happens. The bar has been lowered a long ways for most schools, we will wait and see how Florida plays it out.

It’s easy, our standards are higher than Ole Miss’s.

These coaches would be coached for life at Ole Miss.

Mullen was the only one that had any success in power 4/5 as a head coach before UF and he had checked out and had to be fired.

Spoiler alert: we went 15 years without anything close to a title run.
