better with the next hire?

Georgia knew who they were hiring when they fired Richt. They knew Kirby would accept.

Does LSU already know that?

That was what LSU thought Brian Kelly after Coach O was gonna be.

Georgia also waited until the season ended to fire him.

lol....that emotional egotistical bunch....no way in hell they know anything. They still dont know how they gonna pay BK and his staff the buyout. Who the next coach is going to be isn't even a thought at this time.

I think all they know is they dont want BK...most prob dont even care who they hire just get rid of BK

Won't be popular among LSU folk, but O caught lightning in a bottle. I don't think he was a bad coach, but Richt was more consistent and went out with a nine, eventually ten win season after bowl season. O left with a terrible season.

If Richt had had back to back seasons like O's he would've been gone a long, long time before he was eventually gone.

Kelly is more like Richt than O.

Fisher did not win at A&M like RIcht and Franklin did at UGA and Penn State.

A couple of the coaches that these people want to hire are alumni of the universities that they currently represent. Idk that Georgia tech or vandys coach will leave.

Richt was better than Kelly. Most of Kelly’s wins were against northern chump schools.

They would leave. No guarantee they'd be any better though.

Fisher flopped in the SEC. But that was his next move anyways. He already won a national title at an ACC blue blood. He was no ties to the Big 10. Maybe Big XII I don’t know

Why wouldn't that be popular? That's the prevailing sentiment among our fanbase, obviously there are still some that put O on a higher pedestal but they're the minority.

Miles -> O is really more of an apt comparison for this discussion.

No. LSU is not a top tier job.

Georgia knew who they were hiring when they fired Richt.

But they didn’t know he’d do as well as he did. Knowing who you’re going to hire is great and everything but firing a perennial 10 win coach was still a massive risk when your hire had zero HC experience

If your question is “has a team ever fired a coach like that and had a good hire on paper” the answer is yes

If your question is “has a team ever fired a coach like that and been successful” well you answered that in your OP

I don’t even know why we’re putting Kelly in this group. His success wasn’t even at the school that just fired him, so it’s not really comparable to Richt at UGA.

You moron..every article written on this firing calls the LSU opening the top job on the country... with a stadium and fan atmosphere that is an unbeatable experience.....you idiots just make shite up.

quote:

Why the job ranks here: LSU hasn't won consistently enough since its last national title, but the ingredients of a top-shelf job are there, especially location and fan support. As a coaching agent said the week before LSU made its move, "If LSU came open, that's by far the best job on the market, easily." Now it has.
