Everyone is gushing over Indiana, and the Hoosiers are #2 in the AP poll.
They’ve only beaten one team in the Top 28 of the AP poll if you continue down into those receiving votes…
And the team they beat?… that team has not defeated a single team in the AP Top 36, which is the full number of teams receiving a single vote to be in the poll.
How has schedule strength become so lopsided? I feel like it didn’t used to be this bad, and it’s ruining the sport, IMO.

Ruining the sport? Really?
We've got college kids driving around campuses in $100k+ cars and not going to class and Indiana's schedule strength is ruining the sport?
We can discuss Indiana's lopsided schedule, but it's not the biggest issue in college football right now. Far from it.

You realize there's a 12 team playoff now? These rankings dont matter, it will all get sorted out in the playoffs. This isnt the bcs era where we were all fighting over two spots.

It is pretty ridiculous. We go weeks at a time between ranked matchups in other conferences.

Close games and parity aside, the product has become dogsh!t..if not for heavy betting action to sides, totals, AND PROPS..largely a struggle to watch..
However, last year's expanded Playoffs enjoyable, even with some Home Game Blowouts, and am looking forward to this year's Playoffs.

As long as every team has that going on, then it doesn’t cause disparity.
Our entire playoff was a joke last year because we let Indiana, SMU, etc in because for some reason the CFB world wants to pretend that playing Wake Forest and Boston College is no different than playing Tennessee and LSU.

FEI won't be updated with this weeks games until tomorrow night most likely, but as of last week Indiana has played the 14th toughest schedule.
It must be Ohio St you are thinking about, they have played the 50th most difficult schedule.

Yeah last season is a great example, if the sec teams were so great why didnt any of them beat the big ten teams or notre dame? It should have been easy since the big ten is so bad.

An issue that is new with these super large conferences is that , by scheduling quirks, a team can end up feasting on the bottom feeders.
I suggested before and I think it makes sense, that the B1G, and other conferences, need to split into 2 leagues, an upper and lower, division.
That way , we can get tOSU v.Oregon, USC, Indiana, etc.
Instead we get to see the good teams just coast through the Rutgers of the world.
And these divisions are adjusted every season.

The new playoffs is what sucks. Bunch of teams who didn't belong there to start with.
Ohio St lost 2 games during the season, including losing to Michigan in their last game of the season(making Michigan bowl eligible). They do not play in the Big10 Championship game, but then they still go on with a somewhat easy playoff schedule and become National Champs.
BCS was much better. If this was the BCS right now, Alabama isn't even really in the National Championship discussion because we lost to Florida St. We're on the outside looking in, no control over our destiny. We need other teams to lose, every game matters. I'm invested in every Ohio St game, every Indiana game, every A&M game. Now I give no shits.
Right now Alabama can still afford another loss, maybe even 2 if the 2nd is somehow in the SECCG and still make it to the playoffs and have a chance at the NC as long as they get hot and healed at the right time. That's actually kind of terrible.
They've killed what was the best regular season in all of sports.

The root of the problem is this…
Because of expansion, the SEC and the BIG 10 have ruined the other leagues… the ACC and the Big 12 are largely garbage.
Meanwhile the media props up the SEC and Big 10 as if we are equals which is simply not true. We expanded with quality (Texas, Oklahoma, A&M) and they expanded with quantity (Rutgers, Maryland, UCLA, etc).
The Big 10 has 3-4 quality programs in most years: Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State… and then usually some other program would jump up and have a good year… usually Wisconsin, Michigan State, or Iowa.
But now because they have 18 freaking teams, those few programs with actual talent play each other less often, and these lesser teams like Indiana run roughshod over a God-awful group of teams, and they get treated like they accomplished something.
Indiana will somehow escape playing Ohio State and Michigan in the regular season. How is that any different than going undefeated in the ACC?

Old Dominion
Kennesaw State
Indiana State
Illinois (5-3)
Iowa (6-2)
Oregon (7-1)
Michigan State (3-5)
UCLA (3-5)
If that’s rated the 14th toughest schedule in America, FEI needs to revamp their formula. Good thing they finish with Maryland (4-3), Penn State (3-4), Wisconsin (2-6), and Purdue (2-6). Maybe we’ll finally see what they are made of.

Or maybe you need to look at the schedule of other teams because 14th is in comparison to other teams.
