It genuinely pains me to say this, but Kiffin has the best position that I can remember for a HC.
Sure others have more titles, but when you look at the support & resources that Lane has , weighed against the pressure & expectations & then factor in his salary: Kiffin has won. It can’t get better.
Here’s hoping he has 1 more bad decision in him

Hear, hear!
Although I give Scott Stricklin zero chance of landing Kiffin or any other good coach.

I think James Franklin ends up somewhere down in the southern climes. He chokes in the big game but Auburn would love to be in a position for a big game

He is definitely in a job that seems designed for him.
The one glaring factor is the lack of in-state talent. I personally believe he is using the portal because he has too, not because he wants too. The portal has changed college football, but the upper echelon teams still use recruiting to build the team and the portal to supplement. Time will tell if Lane's doing the reverse of that will pay dividends. It has certainly made Ole Miss more relevant than they have been in 60 years.

quote:In Mississippi? You're kidding right? Mississippi's problem isn't the talent, the problem is it has 3 FBS schools competing for that that talent, plus it sits in the middle of the SEC footprint so every other SEC school is recruiting it.
lack of in-state talent
For this recruiting cycle:
#1 WR
#2 WR
#2 Safety
#5 LB
#6 DL
Not to mention Mississippi probably has the best JUCO players in the nation. And who the hell knows how JUCO years count against NCAA eligibility now after the Pavia ruling...

I believe there’s a high chance if Lane gets lured away, within a few short years he’ll look back with regret.
But some people are just wired to be rolling stones and it’s impossible for them to put down deep roots anywhere.

Maybe he was confusing Mississippi talent with Arkansas.
Or maybe he’s just a dimwit LSU fan.
