After Florida fired Mullen why hasn’t MSU offered to take him back?

Look at what he is doing in Vegas, he is obviously a good coach still

Hell, why isn't he still coaching at Florida?

To over simplify it, it was a combination of:

1.) Mullen not putting effort into recruiting
2.) Not caring about defense at all
3.) Keeping his buddies on staff despite their units performing terribly
4.) Everyone knew he was looking to jump to the NFL because he hated recruiting

The funny thing now is that recruiting doesn't even matter with NIL so that works in his favor in this new era. Still think he's never gonna give a rats arse about defense though.

If he ever comes back to Starkville as a coach, my financial support will end. I have a list of reasons.

Why isn’t he coaching at A&M?

Because he quit on us. There’s a portion of the fanbase that legit wants him back but it would take a very public apology before I would consider it.

This is horse shite. The man stayed in Starkville longer than he had to until UF opened up which was a phenomenal opportunity for him and he was familiar with the job. I’d welcome him back with open arms.

That he only left because Florida opened and it was too good an opportunity to turn down.

So what are you saying? He was offered multiple jobs throughout his tenure at state. You’re saying he staed unwillingly?

He now claims that y’all didn’t give him resources (that you gave the guy after).

And that his recruiting was fine.

Ironically they just got destroyed by Boise State because he's probably doing the same thing again (playing footsie with other jobs) he always did at MSU and did at the end of his UF tenure.

He flirted with other schools every year. Go back and watch the 2017 game against Bama. You can see him quit after we got fricked by the refs. The rest of the season shows it as well.

He was headed to Tennessee in the days after that game until Florida came calling. So you did get the “couldn’t pass up Florida” part.

I think it was his 2019 class when 13/25 signed recruits either never made it campus or were only at UF for 1 year.

Mullen is fools gold for State. He'd be a looking for a better program within two years again

Just to boost his ranking he would intentionally take a few blue chips every year that every other coaching staff in America knew they wouldn’t qualify.

I wanted Mullen hired more than anyone I know personally. I think he’s a genius OC. He just doesn’t want to do the HC part, and that’s what an HC needs to do.

I think if he lucks into a good DC he will have a lot of success in the NIL era. The problem at Florida was that he loved Todd Grantham. As a DC, Grantham gives up 50 something points to teams like Samford. It was apparent to everyone that he needed a different DC. That same stubbornness is going to crop up in a different way next time.

Samford's OC at the time is now ours. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I hope he never steps foot back in this state. He was too toxic. The Ole Miss State rivalry didn’t need any fuel added to the fire. We had to have the Lane and Pirate friendship just to get it back to normal hate levels.
