I got Heupel’s auxiliary cheeseburger locker as the front runner.

It has to be Elander or Frank. It would be hard to pull a coach from somewhere else after they have already started fall practice.

Gotta be careful with internal promotions that players want.

Elander should be obvious, but I am worried Danny White is gonna get cute and get his own guy.

It’s Ellander and it’s a slam dunk

Elander would be a great hire IMO.

Yes but you can just make him the interim this season and then make a decision on what to do. Really not a bad situation if he does well keep him if not get someone else.

Tennessee needs to find an established, proven head coach. Luckily, there’s one not too far away with 25 or so years worth of experience.

If you’re going to go the interim for a year route, Anderson probably makes more sense as he’s more experienced and has been a head coach in a major conference before.
Elander is obviously high upside but there’s always going to be risk with someone who’s never done it before.
Timing of it all makes the options a bit more limited.
My advice would be that whoever the hire is will almost assuredly be a step down from Vitello. Just ask any program that’s had an elite coach leave while things were still going well.

DEION SANDERS IS GOING TO DO IT...HE'S GONNA BE A DUAL SPORT COACH LIKE HE WAS A PLAYER!!!

There are early reports out there that Danny White is making Frank Anderson the interim. If that is true that means Elander will not be the coach and he is going after his own guy. That would be a major frick up.

And Anderson was just made the interim coach. That means Danny White is going after his own guy. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Wow
Shocking decision but the players coach never tends to work out long term
Elander may look to bolt for sure now

Is that the pitching coach?

Yep. Making him interim is a clear sign to me that we are not hiring Elander. This is an all time frickup.

Most definitely. And probably most of our recruits and players. We will be starting from scratch and probably hanging out with Missouri at the bottom.

Seems like the pitching coach has done a good job, but I don't know if he was the one who ran off Chase Burns or not.

I realize Elander is highly regarded as a high upside candidate, but your AD being patient on this may be the wise move.
Elander might be awesome for you but he could easily be another in the list of great assistants who couldn’t follow in their predecessor’s footsteps.
Chad Holbrook, Smoke Laval, Andy Cannizaro, Michael Earley (based on the current trend) are all cautionary tales.
