Anyone else occasionally just think how weird it is that the SEC let the big 12 in?

It was a slow trickle with harmless A&M and Mizzou, and then Texas and Oklahoma followed.
I mean, I’m not mad about it, or really have any strong cares at all(hope they feel at home). It just feels weird sometimes. And now we have this front row seat to the Texas/A&M/OK feud that’s been going on for decades and it’s just weird lol
Anyone else feel this way? How do yall former big 12 teams feel? Yall comfortable yet? Yall feel any SEC pride yet? Is it weird for yall at times too? Football is cray.
Dear diary…

I don’t like having Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC. They don’t belong here and Clemson is a much better fit than Missouri in my opinion but I think the SEC has been good for building Missouris program.
Texas sucks!

It wasn't that bad with just TAMU and Mizzou.
The additions of OU and tu have tilted the conference too far west. I give two fricks about the TAMU/tu rivalry or RRSO in regards into how it relates to the SEC.

It seems that every school in the current alignment has come out of it raking in a lot more money than they did going in, so, if it’s all about the Benjamins, and it sure seems to be at this point, the strategy was successful.
How about Cal and Stanford in the ACC, or Rutgers/Oregon/Washington in the B1G? Now, that’s some weird stuff.

You also added some old Big 8 and SWC hatred as well.

Added 3 SWC teams and 2 Big 8 teams. Just need to add some ACC friends so South Carolina is not all by themselves anymore.

I can’t even remember which schools the Cocks were rivals with back when they played in the ACC. I know Clemson was one but as far as the rest of the conference goes I can’t remember.

Yeah Clemson is the big one but they have played the 4 North Carolina schools (NC, Duke, Wake, & NC St) more than they have played any SEC team excluding Georgia.

Everyone got huge payout increases with the add of Aggie and Mizzou adding two big states
No one got a single penny more for adding Utrans and Oklahoma
Sankey was played and a fool

Imagine being a big ten fan and going from being a bunch of midwestern baws to having a team in New York and two in California

I was thinking NC St and NC. That was such a long time ago. South Carolina and Arky has been in the SEC so long now it’s hard to remember they use to play elsewhere. It also means I have gotten extremely old. Seems like yesterday they joined the SEC.

I miss the true regional aspects conferences used to have.
The Big 8 was fun (and no, not just because we used to good back then, lol). Most drives to away games were reasonable, decades of competition built familiarity and rivalries and you did possess a sense of conference pride.
Even when the four SWC teams joined and formed the original Big XII, it wasn’t “unnatural” as the Texas schools were located right there in the central part of the country with everyone else, just a bit further to the south.
Now, it’s just strange. From a B1G perspective, had someone told me 20 years ago we’d be in the once hated Big Ten and would have Rutgers, USC and Oregon as conference mates to boot….I’d have been sniffing to see if I smelled the funny weed on their clothing.
I’m sure the original SEC teams fans sometimes miss their smaller regional conference, as do original Big Ten members, as do I miss my old Big 8/Big XII. Can’t even imagine how old longtime PAC 12 fans must feel.
But hey, progress. Yay.

Laugh at the Big 10 all you want.
We have all made ourselves look stupid.
Remember when the Big 10 had 12 teams, and the Big 12 had 10 teams?
We literally let teams into the SEC that were previously part of the SWC.
Geography is not difficult. SOUTHEASTERN conference. We all know what “the southeast” is.
Would have been better off with teams like Clemson, FSU, Miami, maybe Ga Tech. In other words, take football schools in the Southeast that really don’t belong in the ACC.
Arkansas and South Carolina were great additions.

Yeah I had just finished (or was about to finish) 6th grade when Arkansas announced they were leaving for the SEC. My old man was in middle school through college during the golden age of the Texas v Arkansas rivalry and after we won the opening game in 1990 in Happy Valley my old man looks at me and says we're going Austin for the Arkansas game next month to send those bastards off
Being old sucks

If I’m remembering right I think FSU was offered a chance to join the SEC and they turned down the offer. They may have been offered twice.

I mean the Atlantic Ocean touches every single state in the schools you list.
Also you were never going to ignore the Texas market and it would have been foolish if you had.
