We need to wake up and he is named HC. Then he needs to pull a Petrino and fire half the staff.

Anyone but Freeze.

For the good of the program.

Interim coach to finish the season? Fine. Certainly not the permanent HC. No way.

Ok, I can deal with that. If they’re dumb enough to hire him full time, Auburn deserves the 2-3 more years of misery it would bring.

Only way to go at this point. Give DJ the keys and let’s see what happens. His players love him and play hard for him. Anything less than naming DJ the IHC and the players will quit on this program and save themselves for the portal

I meant interim. When Petrino got interim he fired the whole defensive staff and promoted analysts. Durkin needs to do the same.

Why the hate for DJ as permanent head coach? He would need to go 4-1

Because he sucked as a HC, he has controversy about his past (Do you really want more of that?), and his defense has given up time and time again 4th quarter leads.

Now that wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that they’ve been on the field most of the 2nd half of games all season because the offense is anemic, could it??

Partly, and partly because his 3rd and 4th down defense sucks. Maybe they wouldn’t be on the field most of the 2nd half if they could get a stop.

I dont want him as permanent but he definitely should take over for the rest of the season. Your railing against him is laughable. Our defense is top 3 in the league despite everything stacked against them every week.

I’m fine with interim to finish out the season, but anyone with a brain wants nothing to do with him being hired permanently.

I say bringing this guy to be the interim coach to finish out the season. The dumpster fire May continue, but at least we would have some entertainment!

We got off the field on third down plenty of times enough for the offense to take advantage of it. No defense is going to be perfect on third down. But our guys are better than most. It’s just our offensive game plan and quarterback play is so horrid that we can’t get out of our own way.

I’d like to see the average starting field position for the offense this season. Just about every drive starts inside the 20, because the defense doesn’t get many stops until the opponent crosses the 50.

I hear ya, but if you’re trying to sell the idea that the defense rather than this abysmal offense has been the problem in this debacle of a coaching tenure, I don’t think you’ll have many buyers.

I’d say more 60% offense 40% defense is the problem. Neither can step up when needed to win.
