Their board says there is smoke around Beamer so how would you feel if he left for them?

I don't see Beamer leaving a SEC team that has talent for a acc school but...he could be on the hotseat after this season and could see VT as a jumping off spot. He would get a new start there and expectations wouldn't be as high and would have full support. The acc is easier to win then the SEC and he could definitely recruit that area.

If he did leave and then bombed at VT I think his career would be over.

Personally I would like to have him stay IF he can get over his ego problem and actually hire a good oc even if the guy would get credit instead of Shane.

They can have him. He keeps saying he wants to be different than his dad yet he tries to do things exactly like his dad did. That worked when his dad was coaching and in the Big East but it doesn’t work these days and definitely not in the SEC.

Really wish we had our own Kirby or Gundy out there right now, but since we don’t, I want us to snag Chadwell or Golesh. Want someone hungry to make their own name.

I'd be fine with him leaving.

I would be really bummed. It feels like VT is truly the only place that Shane would possibly leave us for. I want that, a dude who wants to be here for a long time, and wants to win.

It has not always been smooth, but I do think if we continue to give him time he is going to find more and more success.

Just curious exactly what have you seen that makes you think that?

Looking at his overall career here I see a roller coaster with the same mistakes and waiting to long to act being the standard. I do see the overall talent being upgraded but I also see the failure of retaining subpar coaches hindering the growth of the talent.
Beamer could be the face of the program and concentrate on recruiting and be very successful IFhe would hire good assistant coaches for the college game and let them do their thing.

I mean he continues to recruit better and better each year. He has been good at plugging holes.

OC and the line is really his only weak spot. If he fixes that, this program would be in a spot similar to OM in my opinion. The defense has done pretty solid things since that UF game a few years ago.

I feel like he did a good job addressing the WR coach situation, now he needs to do the right thing for OL which could just be elliot indefinitely.

This isn’t true because of this:

Our offensive line situation is just as bad now if not worse than when he took the job. It’s not a bug with him, it’s a feature.

I really don’t get why he keeps trying to go NFL with the OCs, get a guy with a track record of success at the collegiate level for Christ’s sake. But if he were to leave my feelings on it would be dictated by who the replacement is honestly

If he really wants to win he wouldn’t hire these nobodies.

What he’s trying to do is prove he can win with these idiots he picks up and he’s failing at it. He had a couple of flashes in the pan, but that’s all they were. Nothing to build on.

We force a qb that ran spread option in high school with success to run a pro style offense with no protection. You’re gonna have a bad time.

At this point being in Year 5 and most likely staring at another losing season (2 of the past 3 years), won't be sad to see him walk out the door.

YEAR 5 and looking like this is inexcusable.

I have to say if I was Beamer personally, I would be considering it. Going back to your alma mater in a much easier conference with way less expectations. Yes, I know we're South Carolina and give coaches more time than most in the SEC but it's year 5 and we're actually regressing.
