Did the Washington State game show Ole Miss as a fraud or did they focus 100% on Georgia? Does Ole Miss have a defense or not? We've had evidence of both. Can Georgia stop the Ole Miss offense?
I don't really know where we are on any of these things.

No. I wouldnt be shocked if Lane spent 1 day preparing for Wash State. He played with fire and so barely avoided getting burned.

I havent looked but if the game is in Athens, Ole Miss is fricking cooked.
If its at Vaught, itll be a tight one

I think this plays out like the OM/LSU game last year. Ole Miss gets out to an early lead and tries to hang on. (UGA hasn't been great in 1st halves). It is who makes plays in the 4th quarter.
I'm not expecting to win. We probably need to be + in the turnover margin and we aren't great at getting turnovers.

Can OM stop our run game? Can UGA stay ahead of the chains? Should be a great game.

I think a lot of that depends on which defense strategy we use. We can stop the run, as evidenced by the LSU game, but will we?

The weeks bros got this game sealed. Lane is going to cry back home… LSU by 50
This was your take leading up to the Ole Miss/LSU game lol

as long as its not a running qb... We will have the busted play, and you'll pop a long run, but drive after drive of moving it. That is the question.
Ark was really the only team that did that, and it was Green for the most part.
Other than that, it was huge break downs that resulted in long plays. skews the stats some.
Other note. Are two of your starting OL out, or questionable? We have some DL talent, not deep there, but we can cause some issues.
Is the UGA defense going to be able to control us like LSU did, if not, can you hang with us?
I don't seeing this being like 2023. Teams are built differently now.

Interesting. I would think the LSU passing game is better than our and they chose to stop the run anyways? That's a little concerning for UGA imo.

Using the LSU offense as a barometer for your ability to stop the run is a terrible idea

Gunner can run. He's not the fastest, but he can pick up some yards on critical downs when needed.
quote:I believe the starting RT, Greene, is still out but having Gaston in hasn't been a drop off. Freeling, the LT, has been practicing but I'm not sure how much he'll play.

I'm not sure. I think our D is probably better but we always wait until the second half to make adjustments so you'll probably have a lead going into halftime.

Not really. Durham was out and LSU didn't even try to run. We brought 3 and dropped 8 into coverage 80% of the plays.
LSU can't run the ball at all and didn't even try.
Our run game issues were mainly against running QBs. I know Stockton can run and that is worrying.
But the Goulding defensive philosophy is don't give up big plays over the top and hold teams to FGs in the RZ. If Lane is doing his thing on offense then we trade TDs for FGs. It generally works.

This is the intriguing match-up and I think the answer depends on how often you willingly run Stockton. Teams have not necessarily grinded out run games on Ole Miss using RB as the primary focus. Arkansas ran all over us because Taylen Greene was the focal point of their run game and we didn't seem prepared for that in the first half. QBs that are running a lot can affect our lanes and let a RB hit the big play. LSU couldn't run the QB at all and Ole Miss suffocated their RBs.
Another intriguing match-up I think will be Ole Miss TE Dae'Quan Wright against the middle of the UGA secondary. From what I've read, UGA's starting FS is out. Wright leads the SEC in YPC at 22.4 (scary for a 260lb TE) and when our offense is humming, it's usually because he's active in the passing game. I suspect UGA will follow LSU and WSU's strategy of bracketing Tre Wallace which will leave a lot of 1 on 1 opportunities for the rest of the group and Ole Miss has done well with these opportunities this season.

Georgia would have had the double emotional edge – revenge game and Ole Miss can afford to take a loss more than Georgia.
But then Ole MIss screwed around with Washington State. Still think that Georgia will have the emotional edge and want the game more, however.

I am, perhaps incorrectly, choosing not to put a lot of stock into the WSU game. Kiffin said on Friday before the WSU game that they had already started prep for UGA. My guess is they spent one practice on some WSU stuff and the players just didn't get up for it.
I would put as much stock in it as I would UGA only beating Austin Peay 28-6.

Don’t confuse this with LSU’s inability to run the ball, not because Ole Miss has a great defense.
Louisiana Tech and Southeastern shut down our run.
