Was talking to my coworker today about ole miss and lane.

I told him Lane would be a fool to go to Florida or Auburn. 8 wins gets you fired at either school. At ole Miss they build a statue of him.

I’m in the camp that Lane will leave Ole Miss for one of only two jobs:
1. Bama (Sabanite)
2. An NFL gig (following his father’s legacy).
Even then, I’m not convinced it will happen until at least his daughter graduates.
Also, OM will likely match whatever he’s offered by wherever. Sexton is gonna get paid regardless.

Meh. I don't think he leaves Ole Miss but they'll eventually tire of 8 wins too.

He's won at least 10 games 3 of the last 4 seasons.

Depends on Lane's ego, does he wanna be great at OM and have a statue, or does he wanna be great at a program like UF and hoist a NC?
Guy worked with Saban, pretty sure he wants that feeling for himself imo

Lane could go anywhere he wants, flop, and Ole Miss would welcome him back with open arms.

I can’t see Lane not leaving ole miss. Lane knows he’s never going to win a natty there. Nobody outside of Oxford will care if he’s the winningest coach in Ole Miss history. That’s like bragging about being the tallest midget.
You don’t make it to that level of coaching unless you are a competitor. Lane wants to win a natty. It’s only a matter of time before he leaves.
And ole miss people are saying that they will match any offer made to him. You Mississippi people are poor. You can’t match Florida. Ole Miss people are delusional.

He wants the Alabama job in a bad way but will NEVER get that chance.....zero chance because that bridge was burned.

No, you don't get it. Football changed in the last 2 or 3 years and Ole Miss is now the best program in the SEC and one of the premier programs in all college football. With the transfer portal and NIL, you can throw all old stats away. SEC championships, SEC championship appearances, National Titles, playoffs, etc. mean nothing. What Ole Miss has is alignment. And documentaries about Lane.
Things that also do not matter when comparing programs (outside historical success that was discussed above):
- Number of alumni and donors
- National brand awareness
- Financial metrics such as endowment, yearly donations, and athletic department spending
None of those matter either. Ole Miss is the future. Bend the knee.

We need GA to handle Ole Miss so it's clear to him he won't win the national championship at Ole Miss.

Coaches have egos..they want titles. So he will go somewhere that has won a natty since The Cold War.

This was why I was hoping he would come to AU to enact revenge.

I think he is enjoying being able to do whatever he wants in oxford. They will never question him. At a school with higher expectations he probably wouldn't be able to troll everyone.
