Still waiting for the return of SOG...

NOTES:
-SP+ and CF Nerds model still aren't sold on us this year. Every week we come in, beat a highly ranked opponent and those teams slip and we stay stable... its an interesting trend whereas FEI has been steady with us as a top 5 team all season

OFFENSE:
-Both teams look very good to borderline elite and everyone seems to have this going between 28-35 points per team
-I don't see anything in particular that TN is doing as elite as they're late 20s to mid 30s both in YPC and YPA, they're just finishing the drives more efficiently.
-Bama is moving the ball at over 9 YPA but just isnt finishing drives so far this season. If the red zone issues get fixed and Miller comes back healthy this is a top 3 offense IMO.

DEFENSE:
-Tough to miss the CF Nerds model with the TN scoring defense at 91, but its worth keeping a close eye on as it could be a situation where TN has a major vulnerability that some limited offenses just haven't been able to fully take advantage of...
-Outside of CF Nerds, everyone has TN as a borderline top 25 defense that does a lot of things well but nothing elite. The Nerds model has TN at 70th against the pass per attempt which is definitely worth watching as they havent really played anyone outside of Arkansas with a good to great passing QB which is a huge red flag on the road against Simpson/Bernard/RW/etc
-Bama is borderline top 10 again which probably surprises some people, but outside of explosive runs teams really arent getting much on this defense consistently

Why is nobody talking about Tennessee's relatively weak schedule? The only good team they played was UGA at home and couldn't get it done. They were lucky to beat Miss St. Yes their numbers look good but wouldn't anybody's against that schedule?

We keep being used as a barometer for these unproven teams.

Vandy was a top team until they lost to us and everyone is like "well, they're Vandy".

We beat undefeated Missouri and its the same story.

TN is a very good team who has beaten the teams they should but put up a bunch of red flags doing it. Not sure where they're at with some of those injuries on defense, but I really wonder if the red flags those models were seeing in their secondary are real and just haven't been fully exposed because they haven't played any elite passing offenses yet.

But end of the day, everyone thinks UGA is really good and they almost beat them. As long as TN continues to find ways to win they'll get a free pass for the ugly way they did it against mediocre teams. First time they drop one the narrative will instantly shift to "well, we kind of knew they weren't that great all along...".

The media doesn’t want to give us credit when we beat good teams and then dance on our heads and celebrate the field stormings when we lose. It’s ridiculous but to be accepted by this point.

I’m very interested to see how Vandy fares against LSU this weekend. VU is the betting favorite and the game is in Nashville.

They kinda did though. I mean one missed field goal doesnt really change how that game practically went. UT is still very good. Arkansas was definitely a trap game for them.

It was but Arkansas is still a bad team with an interim coach and they made the Tennessee defense look like shite for a majority of the game.

LSU will probably beat them by 10 or more.

Just like the Johnny Manzel led Texas A&M teams, we struggle mightily against them but LSU beats them with ease.

Then we blow the doors off LSU.

Perhaps but this VU team is really good. LSU struggled with South Carolina and VU hammered USCe.

Tennessee’s defense seems to rush the passer at expense of everything else. If we can block them well enough and have just enough run threat balance from the tailbacks, I think we win this game in a bit of a shootout compared to our recent trend of being in the mid to high 20s against SEC competition.

Im so tired of this bullshite. Yall wanna downplay how good the opposing teams are, then pile on when the game isnt a flawless blowout or *gasp* a loss. No UT is a very good football team. How good they were doesnt change based off one single field goal or how they played in a trap game. Just go ahead and call into Pawwwwl and start your complaining early

If we can do that, then we win and maybe even win comfortably (10+). If we don’t, then it will be a very tough game that could go either way.

Just finish drives with TDs and stick with what works instead of getting cute. We’ve had so many opportunities to close out the last two games but we just can’t seem to do it.

It's hard to not get cute down in the high red area to goal line when you don't have faith in your handoff run game to get tough yards. At least with Jam, I don't think we have a broadly deficient run game. I just don't see the belief that we can make statement runs with our tailback run game. You can see it in the play calls. If we're beyond QB sneak range, we're almost never handing it off and when we do we often are not getting it converted.

When teams start believing that we can just ram it down their throats if they keep on playing zone well into goal to go situations then we will get more man coverage when the opponent gets backed down to their own end zone. When the man coverage happens, we can start more reliably executing our short field passing concepts.

Kadyn Proctor quote regarding Ty Simpson:

quote:

“It brings us with him. As he wants to improve on his past game, he brings us along,” said Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor. “He’s just a great leader, speaks all the time. Ripped our arse when we were in the team meeting yesterday. He knows how to get us riled up, and he’s a great leader. He’s one of the best I’ve ever been around.”

Calm down man! Nobody is saying Tennessee is shite. Anybody with a functioning brain can tell you they are a serious threat, but it's human nature to try and make ourselves feel better about an opponent and to see their weakness instead of drowning in doom because they also have strengths. I'm as pessimistic as they come and I'm going to the game, the last thing I want is to dwell on the possibility of those hillbillies coming into our stadium and singing Rocky Top all night long.
