I saw where Cayden Jones is out for this game. Not sure how badly he's injured and I know he's not a starter but he would most likely be the next ILB we've got if one of the trio of Lawson/Jefferson/Hill-Green go down.

We are paper thin in terms of depth. No, I'm not "panicked" or freaking out but it just seems like an absurd amount of guys are hurt this year.

Every team is paper thin when it comes to depth. Welcome to the NIL and unlimited transfer era.

UGA was a mash unit by the time they played ND in the playoffs.

There's 3 promising freshmen LB's, plus QB Reese. Not ideal in terms of size and experience, but better than most teams have for depth.

They've had their backup in by the third quarter of three of their games.

When people have talked about signs of poor conditioning in recent years, there's this take that "Oh but we're staying so healthy." Unclear where people are getting that from, but it really doesn't hold up to any scrutiny. Even in 2020 you had a point in the NCG where Bama was missing Smith, Waddle, Harris, Dickerson, and had Jones visibly limping. Ensuing year injuries cost the team the national title.

Ballou's teams are chronically injured and players he conditions fail to develop as expected. Way more recruiting busts over the last 5 years than over the preceding 10. You also routinely see Bama players getting dragged down the field and blown off the line of scrimmage over the past few seasons, which was unheard of in the 2010s. This has been one of the major things handicapping this program for five years, but many can't face it because their opinion of Ballou was set when he inherited a stacked team in year one. The man is obese himself, which tells you all you need to know.

I remember fans criticizing Scott Cochran for too many injuries. Its all a crapshoot in football and a lot of it is luck.
