Texas Tech is one of the biggest winners from NIL and conference realignment

They get to buy SEC caliber players while coasting through a cream puff schedule.
They no longer have to worry about the Sooners and Longhorns keeping them in check.
They should cake walk to the playoffs regularly with less injuries than other programs.
Drawback I see is that they'll be less battle tested during crunch time.

Helluva thing to waste your first post on.

Was not that impressed with them vs Houston. They played with half a field and kicked a bunch of field goals, couldn’t punch it in. First TD was a total blown coverage. 2nd half Houston was gassed.

Texas tech would be legit if the campus was in San Antonio

Tech is getting the most they can out of what they have I'll grant them that. Lubbock is such a shithole and so far from anything. Congrats on having some rich donors throwing money at NIL and I like your coach. Inevitably though Utah and UH aren't exactly impressing folks in the SEC.

Anyone having to live in Lubbock is not winning.

Taking in that this is a SEC board and comes with the bias. But Tech has built a legit team. The defense is better this year than any they've ever had by light years. The offense is also still elite, minus some slow play vs houston. Tech would not only roll Texas by a few scores; they would hang with OU if not beat them too. Tech has outscored opponents like 200-20 this season. That can't be ignored.

They have to come up with the $20.5 million allowed for revenue sharing with a whole lot less television revenue than competitors in the SEC and Big Ten, and, if strength of schedule matters, 10-2 might not do it for them. What happens if they are upset in the conference championship game?
I can guarantee you’d, they rather take the challenges that come with being in a big boy league rather than try to make it as an outsider, even if they are doing a good job at it this year.

Yes, because they get to avoid Texas and Oklahoma in conference play now.
Texas v Texas Tech all-time record: 55-18
Oklahoma v Texas Tech all-time record: 23-7

Lubbock is an empty desert. There are a few college bars around there with some hotties who will suck start a Harley for you though.

Legit great job by Tech so far. Cannot be ignored, I agree. You now have to worry about getting too fat by listening to your fat little girlfriends or feasting on too many lightweights. Almost impossible to avoid it.
The problem is a that if you are not battle tested repeatedly then you get kneecapped as soon as the playoffs start.
Just ask OU about their playoff reality checks from being in the B12. Or Notre Dame and Manti Teo vs Bama. They knew they were toast before the game kicked off.
It’s much better to learn about your team early on when there is time to process and improve from it.

TTU is benefiting from one billionaire opening his checkbook wide open for a potentially limited amount of time.
It’s not some great program building or fundraising effort.

Amazing to behold, we used to arm tackle and dive at feet. Now our D-Line is knocking the F* out of people and dropping ball carriers as if hit by a .3006 on first contact. Also overpowering the O-lines-- and Utah had by all accounts, a very good oline. This is very encouraging fundamental aspect of the game we've lacked.
And we can still move the football with the #1 offense in the country. My only concern is red zone O sucked against UH. We only had 3 TD's. We can do better.

Money can get great things accomplished but I’m adding an additional digit to my NIL deal since we’re talking about Lubbock.

You are letting your envy do the typing. You dont have a clue what going on. The entire athletic program is getting massive infusions of equipment and facilities. This is a long term effort.
Dont ya just love the Permian Basin, Its Americas treasure box.. And BTW, UTrans, and Aggy are doing exactly the same thing. But in UT's case, not with the greatest efficiency.

Very true. Every detail of your post is spot on. We've tried to scheduled you guys but aggy seems to love their OOC cupcakes as well. Though you did have ND. Points for that isolated event. Honestly most school are doing way to much of this.
I think all P4s should be allowed only 1 non p4 opponent per season.

I thought this same exact way about Tuscaloosa Alabama but they seemed to make it work

Absolutely right.
I watched the game last weekend and the announcers mentioned TxTech sought players from lesser known programs in the transfer portal that were the captains of their team - leaders.
They pretty much bought a new team. I think most folks in Texas predicted they would benefit from NIL due to their alumni base being big boosters of the program historically.
It's not the college football I wanted to see, but it is what it is now...

I’m not a tech fan or grad but saying Lubbock is a dump when you went to school in Bryant/College Station is a bit tone deaf because that town ain’t much to write home about either.
