Well, I said the Vandy game would be what tells me about this staff

Very pleased with the result, but it was the defensive adjustments and commitment to a ball control game plan that were most satisfying. It showed that we can win games in a variety of ways. Honestly, I do t want to base too much on a home win over Vandy, but it is encouraging and feels like maybe we turned a bit of a corner. I truly think we can beat everyone left on The schedule, but all these ranked teams in a row is a tough assignment.

A great win with no injuries I believe.

The offense did not look good in the red zone in the second half. Had to kick three field goals. Maybe Vandy's defense deserves some credit. The played well other than that.

I said something similar at halftime. Something to the effect that the next 30 minutes are going to say a lot about how the DeBoer era is going to go. I don't think an Alabama coach would survive with the ignominious distinction of being 0-2 against Vanderbilt. It may have taken a few years but a loss yesterday would have been the mortal wound that eventually ended in a termination in 2-3 years when it would be financially palatable.
However, the defense didn't just get some consequential red zone takeaways but started getting Vanderbilt into more 2nd or 3rd and longs. It wasn't perfect but they basically shutdown the Vandy run game after the first two drives. Did better on third downs, won turnover battle, and shutdown the run game. Essentially everything we needed from the defense to give our offense a chance and frankly the offense missed some opportunities to break this thing open in the third quarter.

We went brain dead in the red zone.
Two option plays followed by a Germie Wildcat play.
WTF?

Yeah Talty seems to be channeling his inner Cade Foster on a lot of his kicks.

Talty is 100% a headcase. His leg is strong enough to boom it on kickoffs but 40+ FGs he can't do. He's fine on the short ones though.

No. Foster had a big leg but was utterly unreliable at any distance. In fact, go back and look at his record. He finished his Alabama career having never made a kick that mattered to the outcome of the game.
Talty has been rock solid from inside 45. His three second half kicks yesterday all happened with the outcome of the game very much in doubt. Foster would have missed all three.

Don’t why this was down voted offense did struggle in red zone. A lot of that was in Ty’s decision making as well. He took a couple of really bad sacks
