Anyone actually want to play in the SEC Championship game these days?

It cost us our starting QB and a title run last year. Would honestly rather host a playoff game at home than play in the SECCG.

Getting to Atlanta used to be the number one goal every year. Then, you worry about building on that. Now, as you say, it's probably better to not play in the game at all. This is one of the unintended consequeses of the state of college football today. It's so disappointing. Anyone that has been able to attend a game when their team is playing in that game will tell you that it is fricking awesome. I will never forget my experience there. I should have gone back more after 2001.

Same thing as hosting a first round game and winning. Only playing in your stadium is better. And there is no guarantee of a bye anymore.

I think the way the bye works is a disadvantage plus you are still having to play an additional game...

I'd like to win 1 just to say that we won 1, but at the end of the day, it makes no difference in the current landscape.
But they could change that..
SEC Champ gets a golden ticket to the Final 4

Now I don't think they should do this, and I don't think teams would want to sit on their asses for that long, but it would take something like this to make it as important as it was before.

A lot can happen in the playoffs, I think if you have the chance to win any kind of championship you take it.

If our kicker didn't diarrhea the football twice last year, we probably would have won in regulation in Year 1.. and we wouldn't have had to face Ohio State until the Championship game.. We would have beat Notre Dame and Penn State.
