Great article on the state of our OL and how it got there. Not for the faint of heart.

Well written story and Searles IS a part of the problem. I still scratch my head as to his hire. And Kirby admitted that this started to rear it's head starting 3 seasons ago. He's the captain of the ship and he needs to make any and all adjustments. It's up to him.

Clemson is obviously in decline.
Dump Searles and throw enough money at Matt Luke to return as Georgia's OL Coach.

Don’t know how good him and Kirby’s relationship is especially after leaving saying he was done coaching and then went to clemson

It wasn't a particularly insightful article, IMO. The author identifies the problems, injuries, attrition and inexperience/youth, and then tries to turn it into a dramatic revelation or indictment. Of course Kirby saw it coming; those problems are part of the landscape in the NIL/portal era, and Georgia's not immune, especially early in the season. UGA routinely loses good players early to the NFL which exaggerates the attrition problem.

I'm sorry but this quote attributed to Stinchcomb is pure bullshite.
quote:

It’s a little bit disappointing for us to have guys that have been a part of this program two, three, four years now, and you can’t contribute in a meaningful fashion,” Stinchcomb said. “Might be time for you to go.

Let's take a look at that group of players who have been in the program for 2,3, and 4 years. If you've been in the program two years, that means you're beginning your third or higher year of college ball. Those are the guys who were historically (pre 2021) OL starters and quality depth in major college football. UGA has six players in that group: Morris, Greene, Bobo, Freeling, Meriweather, Hughley. Three are starting, one may start today, one would be starting if healthy and the other one has played in a couple of games.

Everyone else has been in the program for one or zero full seasons (6 of the former and 6 of the latter). They have minimal prior experience, partly because our 2024 schedule was too grueling to play 3rd team OL. Most of them have played this season and will play more in the future. Three of them (that we know about) have been injured this fall; Tolliver, Gaston, Jackson. People talk about player development and coaching, well OL is one position where players take time to develop into starters, some more than others, and they need continuity to play as a unit. What we've seen 3 games into 2025 is young players (who are still being developed) thrown into action before they were ready, in new positions or as part of new units. If Kirby follows Stinchcomb's advice and starts telling that group "time for you to go" based on 3 games, we're headed for bigger problems than we've seen so far.

So all of that attritiion to the portal, NFL and injuries has caused the OL, particularly the right side, to have subpar performances. That's not surprising. It will get better, but not overnight because OL takes time to perform as a unit and inexperienced players need experience. UGA can't afford to go buying a handful of multi-million dollar one year players in the offseason to fill every potential gap, so there will be gaps at every single position in future seasons. It won't happen every year at every position but it will happen every year at some positions at most programs, because that's how it works in the era of NIL and permanent free agency.

Your "disney dawg" references on this board don't work well. Putting disney in front of the name of a fanbase is usually for fans of programs with a lot of issues and problems – disney Gators, etc.

These are the glory days and we are the top program in the country right now. So in theory, being a Georgia fan right now is like being a little kid at Disney World.

It just makes you come across as a an ingrateful and miserable turd.

It's a huge game day, and Athens and Dawg fans all over are getting revved up for a huge game tonight. And here you are being a buzzkill.

You might want to find a new hobby, because Georgia football doesn't seem to be doing the trick for you smh.

Brutal and honest piece, but I am excited about the right side of our line get healthy and improve with Gaston, Greene, and Hughley.

Definitely a weakness on this team right now, but it's still September.

Kirby is eternally 1 or 2 new assistant coach hires away from having us 16-0 every season and wrecking every team we play. This is the mindset of a lunatic fringe of our fanbase, even though this sort of football perfection doesn't exist and never has existed. Saban averaged 1 undefeated season every 8 years (the GOAT). Every football season has ups and downs and it can get messy, even when you win the national championship.

"If only Kirby hired a few hotshot new assistant coaches, I could finally find joy and fulfillment as a Georgia fan."

These people should be ignored, because these people either:

A) don't understand football

B) find fulfillment in being negative on the internet

C) both A and B
