I’d prefer a statement on the fumble overturn. He took more steps with the ball than the later incomplete pass that they ruled complete for OU.

Why do they even come back and release statements like this? Just rubs salt in the wound. I mean yeah I guess I’m happy they admitted they were wrong but it kind of just makes it worse since it can’t change the outcome.

They better watch out if they do, they may have to deal with appropriate accountability.

Amen

I'd prefer a statement on every colossal frick up with an ending that the crew is suspended

They should suspend the OU coach for a few games. Send a message that bush league stuff like that isn’t welcome in this league.

Where is bluedragon at? He is our referee lifer that brings a referee mindset on some topics.

He needs to give his opinion on the fumble, the PI's, and so on.

I reffed for 10 years until this season. Those plays aren’t even allowed at the HS level anymore.

I thought the fumble was 50/50 but should have stood due to the ruling on the field.

The pass interference misses were just egregious calls that I’d have gotten my arse chewed out by white hat for even in JV games.

Incomplete pass lol.

I know it was a quick play and the defender dislodged it quick, but he caught the ball. The call should have either been fumble or complete pass and ground caused fumble (would have been bad too as it moved before going down) but it was a completed catch.

I think they actually got it right in the second half when they overturned it and called it complete. However, with what they had established as an incomplete pass, that second half one should have been incomplete as well.

I’m sick of replay. Seriously. It hasn’t benefited the game. They still miss way too many obvious calls. Takes way too long. Yes I’m sure a missed call without a review would suck if against my team but damn if it doesn’t seem they frick it up even when they review them most of the time.

Remove the damn next game suspension on a targeting call as well. Just a stupid rule. If you commit a heinous act on the field like fighting then the conference should get together not in the moment and decide if he’s suspended the next game or half a game. And going back to review if they review targeting and suspend the next game should definitely review after the game the bullshite that goes on in the pile. Like stepping on people or like Clemson was doing that season sticking their fingers in plays arse checks. Suspend those frickers not some guy that tilted his head 4 degrees to low

This crew as a whole was out of position constantly. They got caught flat footed on the first fumble returned for a TD….and never recovered. The speed of this game was beyond their capability. They didn’t adjust as needed. The most obvious was the PI on Coleman at the goal line. When the interference occurred, the back judge’s back was turned while attempting to get out of the way. He has no business being there,

They did cover the obvious Offense PI’s.

There was a lot of uncalled Oklahoma holding. Auburn the same.

This crew was simply out of position most of the day.

I told Terry Bowden what to look for after church one morning, and the key to the mistake made on a batted backward pass, returned by Auburn for a TD that was back. Against Florida. That entire crew froze in their tracks.

Several members of that crew will be suspended for a few weeks.

There are actually three teams on the field each game. The worst wore stripes. Part of their mistakes were covered up in Birmingham.

On the sideline issue. The official is supposed to be off the field. I thought the end got to the top of the sideline yard marker. The four two yard stripes between the fives. He was leaving with a group of replacements. I drop the flag if he touches the top of those lines, then turns back to stay on the field. We usually use the bigger sideline numbers as our guide. If the receiver goes to that number we give him a pass as being on the field. You can always drop a flag, then pick it back up.

Don’t know the experience or age of this crew. But when ranked teams play, the SEC owes it to the Conference and NCAA to put the best crew on the field.

Too many missed calls because this crew was not ready.

We officiated a Doug Flutie Flag Football game the day before the Super Bowl. Flutie’s son has autism. All players were NFL players and retired players. Our Back Judge was a female official, that stated the players were no bigger than the high school teams we saw. I explained. More muscle, faster as a whole and far more talented. They see the lanes before the public. Move back ten yards and start every play by dropping back. Flutie hit a receiver in the lane that went 60 yards for a TD. Sharon covered it with ease, but her eyes were as big as saucers. At halftime, she commented “I had no idea they were that fast.” Told her “think about it……they’re playing on sand. They walk on water,”

Simply put….the zebras had a bad game. That herd needs to rest a week or two. And the sorry part? The SEC knows it was the wrong crew on the wrong weekend.
