Where does firing Dan Mullen rank in massive frickups?

Dude went 31-9 or some shite at Florida.
Acting like they were better than that or something. Dan Mullen got State to AP #1 in 2014 which was a hell of an accomplishment on its own, Dak or not.

Not that high.
Hiring Billy Napier is the epic frick up.
Dan was spiralling fast and needed to go. There's a reason why UNLV is the only school to touch him when he wanted to go back into coaching.

The players miss his wife for sure.

Mullen will be back in the SEC soon. I am thinking he takes over for Stoops when UK gets tired of him robbing them blind. We need Darth Mullen in this conference.

I'd fully support giving him a contract at LSU as OC asap. Firing him from Florida was indeed a big frick up on their part. He's a good coach.

Was in the SEC championship a year prior to his firing. And it was competitive.

UK should go after Sumerall if they move on from Stoops.

I agree. He almost pulled off the impossible vs BAMA in the 20SECCG with Kyle Trask.

Anyone that says Ole Miss firing Cutcliffe was a mistake doesn’t understand how much hiring Orgeron helped us in recruiting and modernizing our recruiting strategy. Cutcliffe HATED recruiting and it became a huge issue even when we had Eli.
We sucked cock on the field when O was our coach but without those 3 years of him building our recruiting strategy we are likely Vandy level bad at recruiting

Wasn’t his ole lady the one banging his players? Did I dream this??

Was in the SEC championship a year prior to his firing.
He ended that year on a 3 game losing streak and then when Trask and other Macelwain players were gone, the next year they were 5-6 getting blown out 40-17 as 21 point favorites vs South Carolina, giving up 50 points to fcs teams at home. Not to mention the recruiting class was sliding down to the 70s.
He fell apart fast it was pretty remarkable but he peaked and then was done. It was absolutely the right move to fire him, but the wrong move was hiring an unproven Sun Belt coach to replace him.

He was losing to Kentucky, he had to go.

Next time, just post that you are stupid. No need to try and disguise it.

I'll just assume you meant Jon Sumrall.

It was about the future trajectory of the program, just like LSU's decision to fire O.

Can you imagine making 3.5 million a year coaching football at UNLV?

This is a solid long-term thought process.
When SC hired Spurrier, he berated the fans for putting up with mediocrity too much. Challenged a lot of folks who had the "happy to be here" or "we'll get 'em next year" mentality. When he left, Muschamp was the absolute worst choice, but, firing him proved Spurrier was successful in his long-term mission. In eras prior, Muschamp could have stayed a lot longer than he ultimately did.
Beamer is ultimately using a lot of the strategy that Spurrier did, and rejecting a lot of what Muschamp brought. He's been more successful on the field at this point than both of them. Not saying it's guaranteed to continue, but the mentality of the fans absolutely shifted.
