Hopefully its just a bad bruise, but blood collecting on the thigh can be a sign of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Very dangerous and i hope its just a bruise and he heals up.

That is crazy. Hope he will be alright.

From Freeze’s presser they had to make a large incision on his thigh to relieve the pressure and that is what will take time to heal. Seems like he is fine otherwise (so far). I have a hard time seeing a large incision on a part of the bod that takes a beating healing in 2 weeks for Okie.

That's good to hear that it wasn't more serious than just relieving pressure.

Rushed to Birmingham? What about East Alabama in Opelika?

Same reason they rushed Rod there by helicopter after his accident. It’s an amazing hospital. It’s a world class trauma center and compartment syndrome is a dangerous medical emergency.

You ain’t performing a fasciotomy for DVT. Compartment syndrome is most likely.

Did they triage him there from EAMC or did someone on training staff/ team MD direct admit him?
Agree UAB is great- the state/region is fortunate to have it.

Don’t know, but I’d bet the training staff. Athletic trainers are trained to be wary of compartment syndrome. Maybe he went to EAMC to get a STIC jammed in it but I’ll bet our trainers have those on hand.
STICs are pressure monitors used to detect compartment syndrome. I performed PMs on plenty of them back when I was a biomedical equipment technologist.

Yes. That’s a freak thing that could have cost him his leg. Hell yeah you get him to UAB.

Thoughts with the young man. Hopefully he's okay.

“Compartment syndrome” may be the diagnosis.
If that’s the case he might be out for the year.
Hopefully it wasn’t that and based on Kings tweet and what Hugh said it seemed much more minor but who knows.
