Not ready to throw the safeties in the trash yet, I’ll chuck it up to first game vs an air raid and scheme. Way too many bust

Harris will get better imo. We know he can play.

Champ is just too small to play S imo. Maybe move him to the slot when he's back and take out Sly Smith, He's too inconsistent. Robinson has no business starting. He was a back up at Colorado. Put anyone else in there.

Would be interesting to compare this year's OL scores to last year's, esp as the season progresses.

our secondary is a huge weakness. LBs are terrible in coverage as well.

But they were touted all spring and fall camp?

Corners were touted. Safety has always been a huge concern.

So 1 game is really throwing out the whole back half of last season?

Hugh said alot when he said they didn't see anything like that through fall and spring camp. Imo they were just too juiced.

What were the issues? Poor tackling and blown coverages. Some tough love through the week and a couple tune up games and they'll be right just in time to make Mateer's job really hard 3 Saturday's from now.

Our secondary was average over the second half of last season. It was below average last Friday.

I agree a lot of the mistakes can be corrected but why people believe this is some elite unit is beyond me

You don’t have 2 freshman all Americans and be average. Yes there were definitely some busts in coverage last season which I think had a lot to do with lack of pass rush

Baylor’s Trigg is a mismatch nightmare for most teams.

I think we can execute better.

Time will tell.

We tackled horribly which has to do with coaching. We didn’t go to the ground and the only drills I saw was diving drills onto a mat.

That’s not tackling. Tackling is hitting, wrapping up, running through the tackle to the ground.

We has very poor nickel and LB play in picking up and passing off receivers in combo coverage. And the terrible bust by Harris which I think the outside backer was probably supposed to collision him in the route as well and let him free release.

^need more of this going forward.

Sometimes it seems a guy will leave his feet trying to get on sports center with a big hit.

Safety is a weakness whether its game 1 or game 6. Robinson looks terrible. Poor tackling, poor angles, just poor play all around. 19 is still the same as last year. yes he improved as the season went on, but he was absolutely terrible for the first half of the season. Seems he is starting this season out the same way. Harris looked like he was sleep walking.

If you looked at our game, and thought that Safety was a strong position on the team, then so be it. I see very bad play from that position, hence weakness. Hopefully we improve

He is in his fifth year and on his third team.

He averaged 2.73 catches and 34 ypg last year which were career highs. He has grown man strength to be 22 years old compared to our lighter sophomores but generally our defense was more of a let down than overmatched.

He is good but he isnt Bowers good and we allowed that type of performance. We won but our defense needs to step up big time if we want to even go 8-4.

Eh, freshman are graded on a curve and it’s a smaller pool. Crawford is certainly great but I think it’s an average unit based on the last 6-8 games of data and eye test. Hope they prove me wrong

Waaaay too early to be calling anything a weakness and nothing in my post should've lead you to think I was calling safety a strength.

Young talented dudes tend to get better and our secondary is brimming with them. Robinson can gtfo tho.

In what world? Use your eyes. fricking Metafour would be skullfricking you right now if he was still around.

Our safeties were clearly a major weakness (relative to team strength.) Tomorrow they may not be but last week they were dog shite. So until they are not a weakness they are a major weakness.
