Mascot, stadium nickname, etc.
Kinda embarrassing, if you ask me.

This is true. Which is why it’s embarrassing that LSU chose to copy them.
They should’ve called their Stadium the Swamp or something.

I don’t know, why does UGA have that yankee hymn as their fight song ?
Imagine being a grown arse man barking at people. Embarrassing.

it used to be "Deaf Valley" in baton rouge
Clemson used death valley first.
then over time, deaf valley became death valley.
LSU Tiger Stadium was first referred to as Death Valley starting in 1959, notably after beating a Clemson team by a touchdown in the Sugar Bowl game that year.

LSU took things from Clemson and vice versa. Weird connections throughout history. One was a band director leaving LSU for Clemson and bringing music he performed at LSU to Clemson so even some of the band stuff is the same but it was at LSU first in that case.

Clemson copied Auburn: LINK to Auburn v Clemson history
quote:
Per Clemson, the school’s first three football coaches — W.M. Williams, John Penton, and Walter Riggs — were all Auburn graduates. Riggs left Auburn in 1896 to franchise the program at Clemson:
”He (Riggs) brought some old Auburn practice uniforms with him (orange jerseys and navy jerseys) that, because of washboard washings, were no longer navy and orange, but looked more purple and orange. He also brought the name, “tigers” with him, and named his brand new football team the Clemson Tigers.

Almost verything "unique" about Clemson is a rip off of someone else.
Their colors were taken from old, faded Auburn uniforms.
The university was modeled after Mississippi State.
Their Tigers mascot was taken from Princeton I believe.
The $2 bill thing is their one thing, and it is fricking weird.

The Tigers were taken from a military regiment:
"The "Fighting Tigers" nickname for LSU originates from Confederate military units, such as the New Orleans-based Tiger Rifles and later regiments, known for their tenacity and ferocity. The name was adopted by the LSU football team in 1896 during an undefeated season and gained further prominence in 1955 with the addition of "Fighting" by coach Paul Dietzel."
The deaf Valley Death Valley thing is what it is

Clemson may have used the moniker first, but we all know LSU is the real Death Valley.

Maybe because it’s what I’ve always known, but it just seems more natural to call Florida the “Swamp Rats”.
However, if LSU had the “Swamp Rat” mascot, what would Florida have chosen?
(Then again, we have 3 Tigers, so…)
