Just another off season thought… cursive Rebels in one end zone the other cursive Ole Miss is the only way to go. What we have now looks like what a bowl game would paint.

VHS is super ugly. Nothing matches or symmetrical. Add some hedges like Auburn or Georgia.

It's like a garage sale bucket of 10 different Lego themes all combined to make a stadium. Instead of building a huge pile of money and planning, we absolutely HAD to build Frankenstein.

I don’t think some of you realize that this would have meant sitting on the piles of money we had for 30-40 years and limiting ourselves to 38k max attendance with virtually zero premium/club seats.

We would have turned into Vanderbilt.

I disagree that it would have taken 3-4 decades to do this.

I also believe that had they thought it through, the East side and North and South End zones could have all mirrored each other. Again, Frankenstein'd.

Disagree all you want but the reality is that it DID take 3-4 decades and massive fundraisings to get where we are.

When the East side was expanded and the rebel club overhang built, that was thought back then to be pretty stylish and they had hoped to eventually do the same to the SEZ back when it was still bleachers. When the SEZ was getting ready to be built, the campus started evolving to the brick/red top fashion you see now….hence that styling.

The NEZ was a disappointment due to failed fundraising and was done cheaply but in a way that could be a lot easier to expand again.

There were massive fundraising efforts every step of the way. You can’t just sit on that money and do nothing.

Now, we could have gone the route of MSU and directed all of our funds for a complete renovation…..or we could have directed it on coaching and the players. I think we went with the right decision.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't a good chunk of the money that was raised for the NEZ diverted to build the Pavilion?

Agree. Even Kiffin said we needed to do this and it was absolutely the right call. The players don’t give 2 shits about how the stadium looks anymore. Don’t make any major renovations and spend money on fan experience instead. The last 5 years the fan and gameday experience INSIDE VHS had drastically improved. The only people who talk about stadium appearances and size are YouTubers making lists

The Pavilion is named after a couple who gave $10 million to the athletics program. I would guess they had a strong say over where the money mainly went and that the NEZ could have just as easily been named after them.

I think the Pavilion also brings in more money as an entertainment and fundraising venue than a better designed NEZ. Student sections don’t exactly bring in a ton of money.

Let’s be honest without NIL we would either have finished or started planning major upgrades to the stadium. The only thing that’s ever getting added is premium seating because that’s where the money is at. Bjork talked about building a new stadium years ago but that was before NIL. I think we are stuck with that stadium looking like that until some major reform comes to college football.

If I remember correctly, you are right. The original plan was to make the NEZ mirror the SEZ. They raised money for that campaign and then pushed mist of it into the Pavillion. They cheaped out and took the luxury suites destined for the NEZ and built them under the SEZ box, thereby getting rid of one of the best features of the stadium, the upper concourse walkway. Then went with the cheapest erectile set for the NEZ. Bjork was an asshat.

I think the idea was to make the *entire* SEZ look more "premium". Which it basically is now. Not the same when it was built unfortunately.
