I was excited for the guy who caught it.

The entire stadium cheered for him. How cool!

Of course he never boomed one like that at Arkansas but he was a very consistent, dependable, kicker. If he can do that at this level plus hit these long ones he’ll be very valuable to his team.

he's been a rock star in Duvall since he got there - that 70 yarder will only add to his early legend -

https://blackandteal.com/cam-little-s-stunning-play-at-mock-game-proves-kicker-is-a-strength-for-jaguars-01k1m30yadxv

he was the best kicker in the SEC while at Arkansas -

quote:

Little could help everyone forget those woes. The 20-year-old Oklahoman was the third kicker drafted in the sixth round, following Alabama’s Will Reichard (Minnesota) and Stanford’s Joshua Karty (Los Angeles Rams).

“I’m going to be honest: I killed the process,” Little said confidently. “I did every single workout I had with every coach that was drafting a guy. I absolutely smashed. I did not have one bad day in this whole process.

“Jacksonville saw something in me that they maybe didn’t see in the other guys."

quote:

Little hit 53 of 64 attempts in college and all 129 extra points. He nailed the game-winner in overtime at LSU as a freshman and danced “the Griddy” afterward.

He delivered on four of five attempts at nearby Florida last year, including a 44-yarder in the final minute to force overtime, and helped Arkansas notch its first victory in Gainesville.

I seen somewhere doesn't count as record breaker because it's a pre-season game.

Why?

quote:

Chad Morris did not recruit Cam Little to Arkansas. Cam Little, a placekicker, signed with Arkansas in December 2020. This was after Morris had been fired as head coach in November 2019. Morris was the head coach at Arkansas

Any chance he's related to Steve Little?

Steve Little was a legend back in the day. Had a tragic single car accident at high speed just hours after his release from the St. Louis Cardinals, which left him a quadriplegic for the rest of his life.

It was a crazy time to follow field goal kickers. It seemed like UT's Erxleben, Arkansas's LIttle, and A&M's Tony Franklin (who kicked barefoot!) were setting NCAA records left and right.

Cam Little's parents are listed, so he's not related that way, but I'm wondering if there's some kind of family connection.

Google says:

No, Cam Little is not related to Steve Little. While both are associated with the University of Arkansas football program, they are not related. Cam Little is a current player, a placekicker, while Steve Little was a former player who played in the 1970s. Steve Little was a kicker and punter and is considered one of the greatest Arkansas football players of all time. Cam Little is a professional football player for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
