Do you guys see him as being more of a Trevor Lawrence or a Jeremy Johnson? Early Heisman buzz before his first real season.

He’s an exceptional athlete and going to be at least a very good QB. So I guess Lawrence but a much bigger danger to run

I am withholding judgement until i see him against OSU with an entire offseason to prep as a starter.
Until then I don't know what we have. Other than a kid with a lot of raw talent. As you know, that doesn't always equate to championships.

I'm ready for the season to get here.

I don’t know if Manning is supposed to be Pro style or DT. Lawrence was pro.

No idea, but since he is now the starter - I'd like to see him get a little more mouthy - kinda like Uncle Peyton.

This nice guy with the kiddish grin stuff needs to play out. I want to see some Peyton - but I fear he's not built that way. Probably more of an Eli.

There will be some times when Sark needs to be challenged - I want Arch to be that guy. I want Arch to implode when he is told to go backward 7 yards when the ball is at the one.

I just hope he understands that throwing the ball away is, very often, the better option than taking a sack or lowering your head and getting hurt.

it's a long season. We need him healthy. We know he has wheels. I just hope sark can keep it in check. Using his speed to escape the pocket is fine but I don't want to see him running with the ball often. We have RBs for that job.

a 3 year starter should have checked out of that play.

Will he scramble and get some yards? Yes

I just don't foresee a lot of designed running plays unless it is an important game, and then all bets are off.

TBD if Sark views the Ohio State game as important enough to use Arch in the running game..

I expect more explosives but more turnovers and hopefully our running game improving a bit with a threat to run at QB.

Will be interesting to see if he operates in a way to stay ahead of the chains efficiently which I felt Quinn was pretty good at.

It's a reflection of college football preseason right now.

So many different story lines but people can't seem to avoid talking about Manning even when they don't want to. The funniest thing to me is when they go out of their way to talk about how ridiculous the Manning hype train has been, thereby adding to the Manning hype train.

I remember how sick and tired I got of the Tim Tebow narrative. It feels very similar, and that's before Manning has really proven himself on the field.

It's especially bad because ESPN has exclusive rights to the SEC. You know there just going to shovel the Manning narrative down our throats if he does well. As a Texas fan I'm going to love it. But as a fan of any other team it would make me destroy a remote or two.

This. I think the Manning hype could be even worse if he looks good.

Only thing I know for sure, win or lose, everyone will overreact after the OSU game.

if he beats OSU and looks good doing so, ESPN will anoint him next Tom Brady. It's not going to be fun for other SEC fans if that happens.

Just as it won't be a lot of fun for us if he looks terrible. One thing's for sure. SEC fans here will start 10 posts a day about arch while simultaneously complaining about the hype that they help create.

That’s what I’m saying. Trevor lived up to all the preseason hype. Jeremy was coming in as elite arm talent, Heisman buzz, but turned out average. First 4 games should tell the story.

I’ll take one of the most accurate college qbs of all time thank you very much (is colt still the leader for cfb accuracy all time? I think he may have got passed up recently)… if arch is 08/09 Colt McCoy good then pencil in Texas as your national champion with the rest of the talent that is going to surround him…

I’ll also take example 10,599 of Aggie lack of class and little brother syndrome… can’t even imagine the reverse scenario of a Texas fanbase sticking to dumb, classless nickname for an athlete that owned them. Only Aggies.

Trevor Lawrence or a Jeremy Johnson

Trevor Lawrence got a ton of hype because he was a top 5 elite recruit, as was Cooper Manning.

Jeremy Johnson got a ton of hype because people thought any dual threat QB would dominate in Malzahn's system at that time.
