Interesting it's 8 different programs, when for a while the national media tried to make it out to be just 1 or 2 programs responsible for all of it.

1992: Alabama
1993: Florida State
1994: Nebraska
1995: Nebraska
1996: Florida
1997: Michigan
1998: Tennessee
1999: Florida State
2000: Oklahoma
2001: Miami (FL)
2002: Ohio State
2003: LSU and Southern California (split title)
2004: Southern California (vacated)
2005: Texas
2006: Florida
2007: LSU
2008: Florida
2009: Alabama
2010: Auburn
2011: Alabama
2012: Alabama

2013: Florida State
2014: Ohio State
2015: Alabama
2016: Clemson
2017: Alabama
2018: Clemson
2019: LSU
2020: Alabama
2021: Georgia
2022: Georgia

2023: Michigan
2024: Ohio State

Teams in the SEC the year they won in BOLD, teams now in the SEC but not at the time they won in ITALICS.

SEC: 16 (6 different programs)
BIG: 3 (2 different programs)
ACC: 5 (3 different programs)
Big 12: 2 (2 different programs)
Pac 12: 2 (2 by USC, including 2003 tie w/ LSU)

FIFY - as much as I want the SEC titles, I think you need to keep OU, TEX and USC with Big 12 and Pac 12.

Figures a Bama fan would say that the Bowl Alliance doesn't count for 1996 Florida.

This cracks me up. The BCS was the format everyone agreed on, and people still want to claim a split title for USC. Then. they cheated so badly that they got their actual title stripped from the very next year.

So, you think a team that didn't even play in the championship game should be considered a champion?

So, you think UF beating #1 FSU for the Bowl Alliance trophy in 1996 doesn't count?

There was no BCS championship game in 1996.

There was a Bowl Alliance championship game in 1996 with its own trophy awarded on the field as soon as the game ended yet you think it doesn't count.

The Bowl Alliance was not like the BCS. It failed to include the Pac-10, Big Ten (and thus the Rose Bowl), or any so-called mid-major conferences which is why it was reformed just a few years after it began. It wasn't a "national title" in any sense of the concept.

This is the thread topic by the way.

You got drawn off course out of emotion and are now trying to make a silly argument that doesn't even apply to the thread.

Because y'all think nothing before 1998 counts. Getting mad shows that I'm 100% right.
