Texas holds the record for both wins and losses in the CWS. Was looking up the stats of all participants and they are head and shoulders ahead of everyone else in terms of participation. The leader in titles is USC with 12 thanks to Red Dedaux and his run in the 20th century. Sort of amazing they ripped off so many and now are a non-player the last 25 years.

Texas has 38 appearances. Rounding out the top 5 is Miami with 25 (4 wins), Arizona State with 22 (5), USC with 21 (12), LSU 20 (7), and Ok State with 20 (1)

You then have a few west coast schools before you start to get into the SEC schools.

Crazy that the SEC success in Omaha has almost exclusively come from the 1990s on and the 20th century was primarily dominated by west coast teams, Texas, and Miami which have now greatly fallen off.

Nebraska once dominated college football.

The SEC in baseball as in football improved as coaching and investments in youth training and development improved.

In many cases baseball players in the South wouldn't get any real coaching or development until high school and even that was iffy (still is in many places). The West Coast was ahead of everybody in regards to youth sports training and development.

Look at the old ways teams used to make the CWS. It was done by regions. The south was its own region while the state of Texas was pretty much its own region. Basically, you had to be the best team in the SEC to make the CWS while Texas only had to be the best team in their state. No wonder they made so many CWS.

again ill never understand this. They could easily ask back

How come no other program has been top 8 in atleast 38 different seasons. having a high CWS win % obviously is awesome, but what are you doing in the years you didnt make it?

That includes my team also. I just cant find a way to dog UTjr for making it a ton. That in itself is impressive

How has FSU never won it despite going to Omaha 24 times? It’s a game played by kids, some win a lot, some lost a lot and everything in between. And at the end of the day it means frick all.

With 8 teams in the CWS, isn't Texas still ahead of the curve?

All time winningest D1 team, not even close
78 Conference Championships
Since the start of CWS, Texas has finished in the Top 4 36% of the time

Texas is terrible!

I’m not dogging them. It’s a huge statistical gap. They’re like 15+ appearances more than the second most frequent team. LSU only has 20 total appearances. So they’re almost an LSU caliber program in terms of appearances better than #2. Just kind of crazy to go and not win so many times like that.

According to some of the louder posters on this board, if a team doesn’t win it all then its better to avoid Omaha entirely

Since the inception of super regionals, Texas has made it to the CWS 11 times.

So to say they only ever made it because they were better than teams from the same state is pretty disingenuous/lazy

Divide the # of CWS championships by the # of CWS appearances for each of the top 10 teams and you’ll see that Texas’s is in line or better than most.

And I have much respect for LSU but did they have a baseball team before 1991? If so then why didn’t they win one before then?

If you look at the last 34 years it’s indisputable that LSU has had the most success. But it’s BS to discount the entire history of a program (aside from
Texas see USC, Arizona State, even Wichita State).

Congrats to LSU. They just keep finding a way to win.
