The opposite of free market capitalism is not de facto socialism so no. It's just regulated capitalism.

This sounds like how socialism starts

Courts have already ruled NIL cannot be restricted. Rev share is different and can be capped and regulated.

My take from reading about the ruling is that NIL deals will be under more scrutiny to go along with the revenue sharing.

So get your lazy azz out there and get your team some good NIL contracts. There's your free market. For now, the Barrett Jackson Player Auction has been cancelled.

Then you should really love an individual coming to a consensual financial agreement with another individual or organization.

The Cszar can’t say a player receiving NIL payments is illegal but they can say a player is ineligible if an NIL deal is considered “excessive” by Earnest & Young.

Well an entirely free market here could result in a single team acquiring every player, so I think you might need the smallest amount of restrictions in place

Free market doesn't work in sports. Never has.

Capitalism and free markets are great for businesses. When you are trying to determine who the best team is in a sport, you are going to always end up eliminating variables off the field that impact results on the field.

It's a form of price controls. You can't do it, it never works. The idea of a clearing house for anything above $600. It'll be so backlogged it'll never function and probably just be ignored. The first sign of unfairness (i.e. player for Bama is cool while player for Clemson is told to kick rocks) will result in lawsuits that'll bring the whole thing down. I imagine everything will be rubber stamped unless it's just so obscene (like $20 mil for a player type obscene) unless they just want to invite trouble on themselves.

Did you say the same thing when they put salary caps in place for professional sports?

I'm predicting that Lane Kiffin is going to have to start recruiting high schools a lot better.

False. They ruled that the NCAA must take players even if they have been paid by NIL deals.

The NCAA is not a government organization, they have never in their history denied or limited anyone's ability to make NIL money. They completely lack the power to limit anyone in that way.

The only thing the NCAA had the power to do was to decide who could play sports and who couldn't. And the courts have apparently taken that right away.

This is 100% NOT capitalism or the free markets at work. This is people who think they have the right to tell other organizations how they should conduct business. All of which is based 100% on envy.

This is socialism at work, 100% and it's unconstitutional.

Just because you fricks don't like the labels doesn't mean you get to pretend otherwise. You are a socialist and you are a bad person for it.

Yes, it's 100% within the rights of the NFL or any other organization to set their own rules and standards for the purpose of creating a product or service.

It's not a matter of how someone chooses to use their freedom/liberty, it's a matter of if they are given the choice to do so.

It may blow peoples minds, but you can even form communist societies in a free market society. As long as the people involved do so voluntarily. You can even form a dictatorship if you want, in fact that's basically how my house is run.

What changes it is when the government steps in and tells people what they can and can't do. It's no longer a free market when that happens(with the exceptions of fraud, theft, etc), regardless of how they rule.

The NCAA has had their rights trampled on. As usual the reasons people give to take away the freedoms of others is because of fear out of how others will use those freedoms. Then they think they have the right to put their choose on them, based on envy. Which is against the constitution and the commandments.
