Last summer I visited Dixie and had a good time. Went to Bristol, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, saw the Hank Williams museum, and toured some of the plantations. Can anyone suggest some new places to check out?

The only true southern states are MS, AL, GA (minus ATL), SC and the panhandle of FL (also referred to as LA - lower Alabama). North Louisiana can be considered the South, but S LA is a different animal.
What do you want to do on your visit?

The Arkansas Delta area is Southern AF. Unfortunately, it pretty well sucks to visit unless you are a huge Blues fan (Helena if there is still anyone living there) or you like duck hunting.

Stone Mountain, Georgia is a really cool place to see. Also, consider Lookout Mountain outside of Chattanooga.

Straight down I-75, stop by The Museum of Appalachia in Norris, TN. It's a pretty cool place to see what Appalachian life was like back in the day, and the restaurant is really good as well.
But if you are going to New Orleans...you must check out the WWII Museum. It is the best...hands down.

Then start in NO and drive east along the coast. There are some great antebellum sites in Mobile and an old french fort downtown. Take the ferry from Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan, there you'll see Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan (Battle of Mobile Bay) then head on over to Pensacola (a great little historic downtown) and tour the 3 forts that guarded Pensacola Bay. One is in ruins and only accessible by boat (unless you want to walk a 10 mile round trip through the dunes on Perdido Key). About 2 hours east of Pcola you'll start to get into areas with lots of natural clear blue water springs to visit and take a plunge.

I believe Nola has a civil war museum near the WW2 Museum. Definitely hit both of those up. The WW2 museum in Nola is top tier. I could spend days in there.
Could hit up Vicksburg and check out the battlefield. Vicksburg itself is a dying town so don’t expect much else to do. Maybe hit the rooftop bar/restaurant downtown.
My hometown - Columbus, MS has a ton of old antebellum homes and does an annual pilgrimage every year where tourists come in to check it out. Again not much else to do in Columbus but could always check out our (Miss. State) campus 20 minutes away and the Ulysses Grant presidential library.
