quote:Mark Kingston's 2019 season was the worst SEC campaign in Gamecock baseball history - he finished 8-22 in league play and 28-28 overall - Kingston was swept 3 SEC series and actually won the Clem U series 2-1 - MK also beat UNC in Charlotte -
South Carolina 5-22
Paul Mainieri - so far - has been swept 5 times in SEC play and was swept by Clem U - and lost to UNC in Charlotte - Carolina currently sits at 27-26 overall and will need to win 1 against LSU to avoid a losing record -

Does anyone really care about Hoover seeding? I hope Ole Miss loses and goes home game 1 there so they can rest up for the regional.

You know your team and players are not just going to sit around and not do anything until the tournament if you get knocked out early. They will still practice to stay sharp. You can get people rest and still win games. Nothing wrong with hitters seeing live pitching, and pitchers live hitting.
I think it is great when some teams have to go to the end of their bench and start some no name kid who goes out and pitches a gem. UF was the 7 seed in 2022 and had to play in the 1st round and ended up in the final against SEC Champ Tennessee, and true freshman Carsten Finnvold, mowed them down for 4 & 2/3 and then the dam broke, but only due to an error by the 3rd baseman or he would have gone 5 shutout innings.
And Tennessee had a heck of a lineup that season.

This season, yes. It’s single elimination. If you’re a top 4 seed it’s simply a normal weekend rotation for you. Not as taxing as years prior.

Not that it really matters, but LSU is only one game behind Arky.

Thanks for the catch.
SDS has it wrong if you click on the link and look at the first couple of paragraphs.

Mizzou is resting its two best starting pitchers for Hoover this weekend. If State messes this up, I swear….
Actually it would be par for the course, and we already fired the coach that put this team together, so whatever.

Best scenario for the SEC Championship:
Texas is swept by OU
Arkansas takes 2/3 from Tennessee
LSU sweeps Carolina
Texas/Arkansas/LSU are all co-champs.
Who's with me?
