SEC Tournament

Don’t particularly like inviting all 16 teams to season ending tournament. Hope Missouri goes 0-30 and then comes in and wins SEC tournament and gets automatic bid. Maybe then they will change it to top 12.

(insert conflicting opinion)
Don't really like it either but, the BYE system helps top of the conference teams not have to play 5 games right before Regionals, that is a plus.

The tournament expanded a few years ago when LSU was left out of the NCAAs because they didn't make the conference tournament...despite a decent RPI. NCAA said if you can't make your conference tournament, you don't deserve to get into the NCAA no matter your record. Now, this is despite some conferences not having tournaments...

I don't think so. Teams 13-14-15 could very well be clawing to get an at large bid at that point. The SEC could have more than 12 deserving teams more often than not. I like them having a chance to help build their resume some more.

Going to be very difficult in this format. The top 4 teams will be able to treat it like a normal weekend. If a team from 13-16 comes in and wins it, playing 5 games, then they will have very much earned it.

There is a huge advantage of the #1 & #4, seeds playing on Thursday and Saturday. When #2 & #3 play on Friday and Saturday assuming they all win.

I mean I guess you could argue that from a bullpen standpoint, but I don't see it as some massive advantage. Your 1-4 teams are certainly locked into top 16 seeds, and maybe even top 8. So they aren't going to be pushing the issue with arms anyway. It's not like the extra time will allow for starters to come back. It's just going to be a 3 game set for those teams.

From a fan perspective of those who like to attend the tournament it was better when it was double elimination.

Why would they change it when most of SEC is guaranteed a spot and a school with no shot wins conference and gets in?

If the tournament started today this would be the draw
Texas: Vanderbilt: Auburn v Missouri
Arkansas: Ole Miss: Oklahoma v South Carolina
LSU: Georgia: Kentucky v Mississippi State
Tennessee: Alabama: Florida v Texas A&M
He's not beating Oklahoma, Ole Miss, & Arkansas let alone then also beating LSU's bracket and the winner of the Tenner/Tejas bracket
Missouri, SCar, & State all have a 0% chance of running the gauntlet. Aggy, Florida, Kentucky, Oklahoma, & Auburn at least could catch fire and pull the stunt off but unlikely.

And honestly those are the teams that would need to win it all to make it into the field which begs the question does the SEC even need a tournament? I'd almost rather add an 11th weekend series and alternate which teams get to be home and away every other year.

After not reading this, I can still tell you that Mainieri had won this tournament in a similar situation.
My post was a joke because Paul has always put an emphasis on the tourney and has won it quite a few times. No I do not actually expect them to win it.

It was set up just fine before you northerners came in and messed it all up.

I have to admit it. That would be great.

You might want to look at a map as Austin is the 2nd furthest south SEC city only trailing Gainesville

You just made that up

Find a single city not named Gainesville that hosts an SEC institution that has a lower latitude than Austin
