Tournament bracket and schedule
Play starts Wednesday. Hosted by South Carolina in Columbia.
Matches (and tournament seed)
1st Round
12 Alabama vs 13 Vanderbilt
10 Oklahoma vs 15 LSU
11 Arkansas vs 14 Ole Miss
2nd Round
8 Auburn vs 9 Kentucky
5 Tennessee vs 12/13 winner
7 Georgia vs 10/15 winner
6 Florida vs 11/14 winner
Bye to quarters
1 Texas
2 Miss State
3 South Carolina
4 Texas A&M
LSU, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt need an SEC tourney miracle run to make the NCAA tourney. Arkansas is right on the bubble. 1st round loss to Ole Miss will probably kill their chances.
South Carolina, Tennesse, Texas A&M are in the top 16 right now for NCAA tourney regional hosting but could drop out if they lose early so they need to win at least one to secure their hosting spot.
Texas and Miss State are hosting locks

It says the tennis center is on Wheat Street, but I lived at Capstone my freshman year (22 years ago) and I thought the tennis courts were around Pickens Street between Greene and Blossom?

It's on Heyward street. I don't know Columbia super well but I have been to their courts a few times in recent years. it's in the athletic area next to sotball

I'm just curious....what percentage of SEC tennis players were born in the US? When I look at the rosters all I see is a bunch of Croatians, Russians, Brazilians, etc.
I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that...
But does America produce headliner tennis players anymore? I have no idea

I know exactly what you’re talking about. Those ugly looking courts stuffed at the bottom of the hill? I believe they built a new tennis center when I was in school (2010-2013). Probably explains why they’re actually decent now.

It depends on team. But College tennis as a while is like 60% international players. Just not as many top D1 level players because the international talent raises the level and its tough for 18 year old Americans to compete with 22 year old (or older) international players who have pro tournament experience.
Different teams have different recruiting focus.
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miss State, LSU, Alabama and Kentucky have are near 100% international and have different pipelines they draw from. Miss State always gets a lot of eastern Europeans from the Balkans, while Kentucky gets a lot of Frenchmen and Canadian French.
Texas A&M, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Vandy try to get more Americans but they also delve into the interntioanal waters as well

Today is the quarters...
OU vs. #2 Miss State...
Winner is likely to get home team South Carolina in the Semis.

Couldn’t find a women's Tennis thread figured I’d pit it here. OU beat LSU and advances to semis

Think today was my first time seeing an underhanded serve . Anyway, wish I knew about this would have liked to watch the earlier rounds.
