Reading X and other forums, I've never seen the college football world so united.

Everyone is trashing Nico and his father. And praising Heupel. I have to admit, my opinion of Heupel has gone up in the last 24 hours.

I think people are realizing that if Nico becomes a pariah, if he can't land a top job at a top school, it will put the brakes on some of this free agent BS that's plaguing college football.

He's rapidly becoming the FAFO poster boy of college athletics. Not a good place to be.

It’s kind of wild but Nico’s dad has managed to turn Nico into a National joke/villain. If we really were using Name Image and Likeness to pay players Nico would be worthless right now.

He will still get paid to play somewhere though. I just don’t know what school is such a mess that they’re willing to take the risk. Because while Nico’s talent is undeniable, his actual performance was painfully average. I

And more importantly, you just can’t have this kinda shite from your QB.

Heupel and Lanning are the winners in this. Really hope other coaches follow the example both set.

Good for TN holding the line. Nico looked very pedestrian against decent teams.

Some, like RC, will probably view him as the Colin Kaepernick of college football..... meaning they'll see him as the victim.

Isn’t this the same board that was laughing at Dabo for NOT using the portal? Now a coach willing to pay 2 million but not 4 million is a hero?

The fans are the most hypocritical group in all this.

I think the issue is that Nico isn’t worth 4m based on 2024 performance and it is chickenshit to hold out for more money. Edit: and stupid when this a free market with no contracts that leave schools in a bind as much as the player holding out.

Why? They (he) started this crap by offering a ton of money initially. Plus, apparently he is a horrible judge of talent.

Some teenager pumped up on his own press, along with greedy family and “advisors,” was bound to overplay his hand eventually. Short of some kind of rule change, the only way to rein this in was for somebody to say kick rocks, kid. Good on Tennessee.

I agree.

I wonder if Arky fans are getting nervous, knowing that the same tool of a dadvisor is coming their way.

You guys are all presuming Nico won’t get more than Tenn offered. You are probably going to be proven wrong. Will you come back and ever say Nico and his father won when that happens?
