Phi slam a jamma made 3 straight final fours with Hall of Fame NBA players Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler in 82, 83 and 84. And still has never won a national title. If that team couldn’t win one, this team sure won’t’.

The Gators don’t get to the Final Four often but when we do, we usually cut down nets.

Well you're wrong here, so you could be wrong again.

Find me a clip with Drexler on the 83-84 Cougs.

And Hakeem was a role player in 82.

I stand corrected. You are correct. Drexler left his junior season. But the fact remains, UH made 3 straight Final Fours and 2 Finals in early 80s and lost all 3. 2 more the last few years and they still can’t cut down the nets.

Gators will bring home the hardware for Horford, Noah, Corey Brewer and Billy Donovan. Hell, they’re going to win it for Vernon Mad max Maxwell. Him and Olajuwon were recognized as Rockets legends at the Rockets/OKC game in Houston last night and I saw Hakeem in San Antonio tonight.

Maxwell should be in SEC record books. I think he has or had the 2nd most points in SEC history next to Pistol Pete until the BS ncaa came up with horseshite they don’t even care about today.

Well in 1982, North Carolina with a young Michael Jordan and James Worthy beat Patrick Ewing and Georgetown for the title, so let’s not go crazy rat shite on nonsense gator.

There were definitely formidable opponents back then as well.

Players stayed for 3-4 years back then and they had fundamentals.

The game was different, but better quality.

I still can't believe Houston lost that final to NC State.

Dream is a legend..

Growing up in NW Houston, I would sometimes see him at the Bennigan’s by North Oaks Mall. Dude was so tall but one of the nicest humans on the planet.

His home in Northgate was across the street from the greatest place ever..

Games People Play
IYKYK

Think small arcade, waterslide, mini golf and bumper cars before they were all Walmart sized..

That being said.. I’m not cheering for Cougar High..

Go Gators!

Houston had 5 future NBA players in 82. UNC had 3. UH had 4 NBA players in 83 and 84, yet still couldn’t cut down the nets. No shame, it’s hard to win a title but they had more talent than most.

Hakeem really is one of the nicest people on the planet. He loves the kids and encourages them. He’ll always take time out for people. Not enough people like him.

A lot of teams have future NBA players and don’t win titles. Sometimes they don’t come into their own until years later. In 2001/2002 Bama was preseason number one and had 7 NBA players with Mo Williams and others. They finished 8th and won the SEC and it was the downfall of Mark Gottfried at Bama.

The best players don’t always make the best teammates or create the best team.

Yeah Hakeem’s team screwed up.

Dude didn’t touch a basketball until 17.

All time great

Im a few years younger, but I went to several basketball camps and played some ball against Benny. I know it has become a cliche, but he was the most talented two guard I had ever seen on a court other than Jordan.

He absolutely schooled Drexler in those days. And then the Crazy took him from us.

Don't be too hard on Guy Lewis. He may not have been a great coach, but he did pretty well at Houston.

He played stall ball vs NC State in the final minutes. Huge mistake.
