Bigger choker, Stoops, or Pete Carroll?

At least Stoops does it in the BCS to BCS- caliber teams.

Funny thing is Stoops has lost to just as many games to unranked teams but your hate for USC clouds your ability to think rationally.

No hate for USC. Great program, but they have choked big-time lately. Way too much talent at an established program to lay eggs against Stanford and Oregon State.

Get your head out of the clouds.

Down Year For the SEC - Will Next Year be Better?
Im not so sure. I think Alabama drops off a bit, Tennessee will be a little bit above average, Georgia loses a lot. LSU will improve by a game or two at the most.
Florida looks to be really good and Ole Miss returns many players so they should be pretty good.
Thoughts?

Since you asked:
The SEC will have 3, maybe 4 teams in the preseason top 15, and maybe have as many as 6 finish in the top 25: LSU,OleMiss,Bama,Georgia,Florida, and UT or Aub.
The SEC may have as many as 9 bowl teams in '09.

The Pac 10 will have 1, maybe 2 teams in the preseason top 15, and maybe as many as 3 finish in the top 25. The Pac 10 may have as many as 5 bowl teams in '09.

In all fairness, the SEC does have 2 extra teams in their conference, HOWEVER - the two best SEC teams have to play a conference championship game; while USC gets to play UCLA.

I agree Metry, every year the SEC starts with an fairly large amount of teams ranked due to their name. I mean Auburn, LSU and Tennessee were all ranked and two of them were fairly high.

I doubt 6 finish in the top 25 though, I dont see it as strong as you do at this point.

So that loss isn't embarrassing, but Alabama losing to a 13-0 Utah team, who was the only D-1 team to finish the season undefeated in 2008, who BEAT Oregon State, from a conference that went 6-2 vs. the Pac 10 this season is?

Not sure I follow your logic on that one. Either they were both embarrassing, or neither were. Oregon State was easily the more embarrassing of those two losses.

The manner in which Alabama lost and how they played was embarrassing and if you dont think so then you arent a Bama fan.

The team showed no fight, no pride and were whipped silly. PERIOD.

For the record, Carroll doesn't choke in big games. Oregon State = not a big game at the time. Ohio State = huge game at the time.

He just doesn't prepare very well for teams they are supposed to kill. Happens to a lot of good coaches (see Saban, Nick).

The SEC keeps bringing it, but USC loses to Stanford, Oregan State, etc. We'll be waiting at the National Championship game until USC one day lives up to the hype.

Good thing for LSU that Oregon Sts kicker missed 3 xtra points so they can mock losing to Oregon St because they beat by a point at home.

Thats good.

This whole thing is ridiculous. Down the SEC as a whole, but then defend USC as a singular unit because the Slack 10 is so bad. You think ADs are shaking at the notion of playing USC? HA. They shake at the notion of having to play in a conference with very few, if any, easy outs. We cant help that every year you might have two games that should be competitive on your round robin schedule. Kudos for playing Ohio State, hell, you have to be able to keep a straight face when spouting off your merits.

If you want to get your chance to play a meaningful game against the SEC...meet us in the title game.

As for the original purpose of the thread, I think the conference will be very good next year. Florida will be the favorite in the nation, LSU should return to form, Ole Miss is on the cusp, UGA is going to be better than most folks think, and Auburn and UT cant be as bad. The rest of the conference will have some surprises also, which is just icing on the cake.

I see you still harping on those 3 missed PAT's...why do you continue to leave out the 2 missed fg's for LSU? Or the called back TD oo LSU? Oh I know why cause your entire attention is just to flame...if you are going to count missed points count ALL of them or drop it...

Holy shite yall play in the fricking PAC 1. Yall have all the talent in the world out there and own the west coast. Yall should be going undefeated in conference play every damn year. There is no way in hell USC would have success like that in the SEC when you have to compete with all the big boys for recruits. The PAC 10 is a fricking joke and everyone knows it. Get the frick over it

Pagan you keep bringing up that Oregan game, a little info for you. There was alot of mistakes in that game on both sides. It rained all day and there was about 2 Inches of rain on the field the whole game, thats why all the missed points on both sided. Using that game for your argument is weak.

And you had your manhood taken by a 30 point dog at home when you got punked by Stanford in Carroll's what, 4th, 5th year?

Yeah, its going to be a long off season with the bitter taste of a double digit defeat at the hands of Utah.

Plus Bama will probably have a down year next year.

Good luck with that.

A couple of little known facts.

So Cal has a bigger losing percentage in the Rose Bowl in losing 29% of the time, than Bama losing only 16%. Also Bama owns a 71% win advantage heads up against So Cal.
