Arkansas, what’s going on with the lower seating at Bud Walton?

I’ve had several of these posts come up in my Twitter/X feed about long time season ticket holders being in their seats for the last time.
The gist I get is Arkansas is asking for some large donations for seats starting next season?
Hate to see this (we see this in Rupp too) because it sucks when blue hairs and corporates end up in the lowers.

Yeah, it really is sad to see. People buy tickets through thick and thin and get booted for the big checkbook folks. The only loyalty is dollar loyalty with these Universities. What is really bad about it is that they are raking in millions from TV deals, naming rights etc but they have to have even more. I guess those NIL deals are worth it? College athletics is professional now and the average fan is getting squeezed out.

Well and that’s how you get the idiots like we have in Rupp in the lowers that yell at people for standing and cheering during games. Or they don’t show up for OOC games when the rest of the arena is packed.

If the new arena gets built, they’ll do the same to Tide Hoops fans. They’d sacrifice 100 regular folks for one rich dickhead who is just looking to get more loyalty points for football and will sell all his tickets

You are spot on. People that think like they are going to a movie instead of a game. To them it is a status symbol rather than being die hard fans. I also see them leaving early with the game in doubt to beat traffic.
Every time they do the ticket shuffle for big bucks it gets worse.

Absolutely they will. UK has downsized both Rupp and Kroger field to put in corporate and fat cat boxes and loge seats.

They are pricing the good fans out of these games.
I wanted to get season tickets in the past but the basketball teams sucked for so long, it wasn't worth the trouble.
When Muss got here, basketball was exciting again but the ticket prices slowly began to rise.
Baseball is also getting expensive and so I just buy hog pen tickets, find better seats and hope no one shows up.

Yeah. It sucks for the regular attenders its affecting. However we have a problem with too many season ticket holders and I think HY is trying to shift that. We've had sold out games where the arena is half-full. It's the natural result of having a huge portion of your fanbase 3+ hours from the arena, and having a 7/8PM games on week nights.

Like everything else in college sports it all boils down to money. Probably to help pay for work that needs to be done to the arena and such.
The average fans are just going to have to watch tv I reckon.

They made this same move with Baum several years ago.
Drove a lot of loyal die hard baseball fans to the cheap seats or home.

I realize I'm in the minority here but I think this is a good change for the average fan. This isn't pricing out single-game tickets

Unless I missed something, it looks like she was just pointing out her seat location and that she'll no longer be in after this season.
I don't think she was trying to suggest no one else was there or anything like that.
