Last 3 games:

@UK - AU hasn't won in Rupp since 1988
@aTm - Buzz has owned Bruce, going 5-2 against him
vs bama - Nate has a winning record vs Bruce and bama has been on fire the last 2 games

If AU went 0-3 (unlikely, but certainly possible), do they drop to a 2 seed?

0% chance of a non-1 seed. You could drop 2 of those 3 and still be #1 overall IMO.

Yes. Loose 2 of 3 and first sec tourney game. Meanwhile a projected two seed goes on a tear.

No. But Auburn better get ready for serious battles in the NCAA. A lot of teams want the crown. At least 4 SEC teams could win it all, maybe more.

It would take a whole lot for them not to be the one seed in the Atlanta region.

*Whew* Glad you're giving AU the heads up! This year must be different, in that not really any teams have wanted to win the title in the past 30-40 years. Yikes! This year they're playing for keeps!

By not saying ALL teams want the crown, are you implying that some teams don't?

For LSU, winning is of secondary importance to stealing from sick children.

the fact that Auburn is so far ahead of the rest of the field that this is even being discussed is fricking awesome

Auburn's schedule is crazy tough. They will play 20 Quad 1 games in the regular season and should finish with at least 16 Quad 1 wins. That's insane.

What type of message would that send if the committee was to downgrade them based on recent results?

They want the heavyweights to schedule each other and battle it out. It's good for college basketball.

No.

1-seed is locked.

If we were to lose out, we’d finish 26-5 with 15 Quad 1 wins.

Tennessee would have to win out to also finish 26-5 but they’d only finish with 11 Quad 1 wins, plus Auburn has the head-to-head.

If Florida wins out, they would be 27-4 to our 26-5, but we’d have 15 Quad 1 wins to their 8. Even with the head-to-head I’m not sure the committee would put Florida ahead of Auburn if Auburn had 7 more Quad 1 wins. We’d also have the same conference record so the committee isn’t going to punish Auburn for playing Duke in Cameron Indoor.

Even if for some reason the committee did jump Florida ahead, Bama would certainly have another loss because Florida would have beaten them. That would put Bama at best 25-6 and we’d be 26-5 with a series split. Advantage Auburn.

Auburn is locked in as a 1 seed.

One more win probably locks us the overall #1 seed but 2 wins for sure does it, IMO.

Princeton is lurking in wait...

Seriously, anything less than a Final Four is going to be a massive disappointment for auburn, esp after last year's tournament. Of course, you can say the same for any 1 seed. I do think they're going to make a deep run...tournament is all about matchups though. Barkley is going to be insufferable on broadcasts lol.

If they lose all 3 and first round of SECT, I think they'd drop to 2.

It's not like we haven't gotten everyone's best shot in what has arguably been the toughest conference ever this year.

Or all but like 2 of us could crash out to fresh teams and then have to hear about how overrated the conference was.

Not even close to the truth.

Auburn is a 1.

It is already done.

They could lose out and still be a solid 1.

Don't put it past the selection committee to find any reason they can to put Duke as the overall #1 seed.
