For any interested it's available off youtube app to watch. If any remember Gary Busey starred as coach. I remember I was in the theater for that one as an 11 yr old kid in 84.

Huge insult to Bryant, honestly.

I think Tom Berenger did an admiral job in Junction Boys.

If they want to make serious movie about Bryant only one actor could pull it off.

The doofus who produced that stinker, Larry Spangler, was responsible for such masterpieces as “The Legend of ‘N-Word’ Charlie” and “The Life and Times of The Happy Hooker.”
He probably got the idea because he was one of Joe Namath’s buddies back in the day, he produced Joe’s TV show that ran about five episodes in 1969 and he also produced a movie that Joe starred in called “The Last Rebel” that was so bad it just crawled up on the screen and died, Joe should have bought the negative and burned it.
Spangler was more famous for being Ali McGraw’s boyfriend for a while and getting caught in a famous paparazzi photo at Studio 54 back in the ‘70s playing with her boobs which were out of her shirt while they were dancing to the point where her nipples looked like pencil erasers.
Why the Bryant family got anywhere near him, I will never know. I remember running a photo of him in my newspaper with Mae Martin, Coach’s daughter.
Busey wasn’t a bad actor before he got dropped on his head a few times, but he was woefully miscast as Coach Bryant. But that movie suffered from the basic fact that you would need a 12-hour miniseries to scratch the surface of Coach Bryant’s life, trying to tell his story in two hours is a fool’s errand.
You need to pick a specific time in his life, like the Junction Boys with Berenger … who I thought was really good, he just wasn’t as physically imposing as Coach … or the first year at Alabama, the Saturday Evening Post deal, the switch to the Wishbone, his last year.
