At UT though, the main issue has been getting elite talent with the lack of talent in tennessee compared to the rest of the South. I actually think it's a good move

I agree. He needs this kind of staff to compete. If Monte is all world and they find a good offense UT will be back soon.

I think he already IS All-World, although the college game might be different from a DC's stance. Wouldn't know, haven't coached. >_>

Monte is going to scheme the defense, coach all the defensive positions and make sure Lane isn't getting in over his head controlling everything.

Sit back and watch the infighting begin with this staff, more head coaching exp in the assistants than Lane himself by a long shot, and with all the great recruiters they are struggling to get any commitments, and UT is ALL IN they have spent a ton of money.
UT has taken a huge risk with the competition that exists in the SEC.

Yessir. I didn't really want Wilson to leave MSU but he is known for being shady to a lot of people. Might be better off that he left, don't know. UT is prolly gonna pay him a lot more money so I guess I'd go too.

Kinda reminds me of a dad not being able to take the training wheels off his kid's bike yet cause he might crash.

well, he can't stay there more than a couple of years at least....he knows he has to keep moving or he'll get nailed.

I think all UT fans would much prefer that we take a huge risk rather than keep sitting back content with our mediocrity of the last few years....

Can't say as I blame you there. It's obvious that a huge part of who wins and who loses is resolved simply by who you put on the field. You put together a band of rock stars and they will perform.

Recruiting is paramount these days.

Jim Chaney. He was recently a position coach with the StL Rams, but his notable experience came during 10 years as Purdue's OC during the Drew Brees & Kyle Orton eras.

very true. Anything from UT in the national title hunt in 2-3 years, to a complete and utter implosion with NCAA sanctions in the same time frame would not shock me. Either way, it will be fun to watch.
