I only was able to follow the gamecast on ESPN, so I may have missed something. But how in wide world of sports do you foul a guy on a defensive rebound, after a missed FT, 90 feet from the basket, with 2 seconds left? I thought you had to be smart to get into Vandy. What did I miss???

They never touched him. It was an awful call.

Fair enough. Good game Vandy. Vols go down twice in one week.

Refs are pitiful. That’s how.

Looks like I may have been wrong.
Do they have injury issues?

Great win Dores. Easily the best team in Tennessee but that’s nothing new for you all in that abysmal state with no competition.

It wasn't a foul.

First and foremost congratulations to Vanderbilt. They played a hell of a game today and deserved the win. Hats off to them.
Honest assesment: This is a good not great Tennessee team that has some vulnerabilities that will cause them to lose more games like this in conference. This is at best a S16 team IMO that won't compete for the regular season championship.
Tennessee with Zakai running point and Tennessee without Zakai running point are almost two different teams. If he gets in foul trouble early like he did today - we're in a bad spot. That really can't be overstated.
If Lanier cannot be consistent with scoring the ball, in particular in key/clutch moments when we have to have a basket, this team gets in trouble.
Opponents have realized they can clamp down on him and play smothering defense and he's going to struggle. He's a catch and shoot guy who isn't twitchy enough to consistently create for himself against defenses that put the clamps on him like Knecht was. If he's not open when he catches the ball or able to make immediate seperation from his defender he's not nearly arse efficient.
He's a very good player, but he's not Dalton Knecht regardless of how much we had hope he would fill those shoes. Looking back right now I realize how unfair that comparison was/is. Knecht will go down as one of the best in Tennessee history and you don't reload with another player like that the following year without some major luck/help. And it's showing right now.
