I admit, I don't have the phd in footballology that some of you do, but I just am not getting it with Wilson. I know, I know, its all about money, but something still just doesn't add up. First off...

BOTH OLBs and even the DEs are gone to the NFL. That means not one but basically 4 spots there for the taking. He's all but assured a starting spot on an elite team that is a regular playoff contender.

Secondly, he's the 2nd string player off his current team. Yet the Suckeyes or Texas or whoever is willing to pay him a googob of money (apparently) to lure him away. A 2nd string LB!? Huh?

Not that he don't have potential and he has flashed greatness, but dang...

So, lastly, I guess the ship has sailed but does any of you inside operatives know if Kirby is lifting a finger to try and keep him like he did with M. Williams, or is it just auf weidersein and have a nice life?

I would doubt it’s another case of Brenton Cox. Probably got an offer to play for another team at a higher price. That’s college football now.

Wants to do a Jermaine Johnson and rack up stats for his draft stock.

BUT, he has a $400K buyout and nobody seems willing to pay it.

This is a hell of a statement. What's your source for this?

It's been King Chaz Chambliss for the last two years (I will admit that Chambliss was pretty awesome during the second half of this season however).

It's a great idea if they don't.

Thought one of the underlying rules behind the NIL, was that money and contracts could not be associated with schools...meaning, if a kid leaves the University, the NIL still has to be honored. A buyout would go against that principle

Although, they are just making shite up as they go along and winning every court case. I wonder why the NFLPA doesn't sue the NFL and get rid of contracts and salary caps like College...seems the court set a precedent to just have wild wild west of sports

I had heard that Kriby was starting to implement this. I think it's a great idea.

Because the CBA is negotiated.

I mean it's easy enough to tie the player to the school unofficially.Just make sure his payment is contingent on him living on campus or in Athens the length of his
contract.

Yeah, seen that...uh...makes perfect sense. Gees, college football has taken a turn for the surreal. I just have no idea what to expect or think anymore.

It makes perfect sense when you realize that outstanding players are going to the highest bidder now; there is no desire to be affiliated with a particular university for these players other than money and playing opportunity.
Wilson obviously had playing opportunity under the best defensive coaching staff in the business so his choice must have been based mostly on dollars.

It really goes deeper than this… Entire, multimillion dollar businesses have sprung up in the matter of a few years. They are still figuring out new ways how to grab $$$ in this… When I say “they” I mean they and not the players. These people are telling 2026 players to reclass to 2025 so they can get in while the getting is good. Life changing money for 17 year olds. If you think it was bad with agents and their proxys 10 years ago, this is a whole new game. And these people pretty much ALL were doing something else 2 years ago. Now, they are in the ears of players without almost any supervision or rules.

Thanks for the insight.
Hopefully a balance can be struck that compensates the players fairly but also instills commitment to universities who have already been giving student athletes a free ride education.
My concern is that the student athlete aspect aka amateur sports has been lost forever but yea, times change and life moves on.

The 2026s reclassifying to 2025 either means they think the current grift show has a short shelf life and will be curtailed and they need to grab it while they can
or the new wild west of grifters and con men have talked 2026s into changing to 2025s so they can get their cuts now.

Both are plausible really.
