What ever happened to that guy.
It's like he just disappeared.

He's 65. He coached a great game for decades. Some coaches don't know when to step aside.

We will see if he can recover, but he quit coaching after the 2015 team and has been trying to rely on talent ever since. That hasn't worked for years.
When he was hired at UK he said he didn't see himself coaching beyond 60. He should have retired after 2019.

How much did the chicken man pay for this team? Can he at least return it for store credit?
Posted on 1/11/25 at 5:23 pm to captdalton
Nope.
He owes his soul to the company store.

It took Calipari 12 years to lose 2 straight games at Rupp and it was the worst team in Kentucky basketball history.
Took him 2 SEC games to do it at Bud Walton.

We'll trade you Cal for Pope.

Cal is the Guido/Basketball version of Jimbo Fisher.

It's not Cal that misses 10 plus free throws.
It's not Cal that misses 15 lay ups.
It is Cal that took over when we didn't have 1 single player on the squad.
The knock I have on him at this point, is His decision to NOT to give up on Nelly Davis

Well he is the coach and could certainly tighten this shite up but it seems like that isn’t a priority.

Wouldn’t be shocked, I might end up in the portal. 40 plus years of disappointment is enough

Just about in the portal

Sadly this has happened to several great coaches in all sports over the last decade. The game has changed rapidly and not everyone moves with it. Same happened with the one and done change.

Arkansas would have the same number of SEC wins so far with or without players. You could have saved a lot of money by just inviting kids out of the student section to play each game. That would be more fun to watch too.

Long season but off to a great stop so far.

The most overrated cbb coach in history.

IMO he really dropped off after his top assistant that was with him at UMass, Memphis, and Kentucky left coaching (John Robic). He left the sideline in 2021 and is now a scout in the NBA. He was his game prep/scouting guy and one of the only ones who could really tell him No/call him on his shite (Coach O being the other).
But he’s just on the downside of his career and the game has changed enough that he hasn’t been able to adjust.
