From a kid who listened to Bill Montgomery, Joe Ferguson, Mike Reppond…all the way through to Darren McFadden…was a 40 year Tush Hog level supporter…stayed up til 10:30 regularly to watch replays of Sidney, Ron and Marvin. I’ve literally bled Razorback red all my life.

Granted….Ii have relocated to Florida, but I don think that’s why I just really don’t care anymore.

I think it’s partially due to college sports just devolving into an uninspiring mess of greed and smarmy behavior, but it is mostly because Arkansas’ sports teams no longer have any pride or a reputation for fighting. They have all mostly become a group of spoiled, loafing, whining teams with more issues than a group of third grade girls. We’ve hired a washed up basketball coach we used to hate, a football coach who is just a nice guy looking for an ole cole beer and totally given up on other sports.

Quite uninspiring. I guess that why I find myself simply not caring much about any of it anymore.

Judging by NIL, attendance, message boards, etc, most of the former fanbase is right there with you. Getting there myself.

This is how I've become with sports in general since COVID season really.

If my team isn't a legitimate title contender I just can't bring myself to care that much anymore or waste my time watching/following.

People beg for an 8 or 9 win football team and that still does nothing for me going to a meaningless bowl game with zero shot at actually winning a natty.

Same for NFL or MLB etc if you're some average at best wildcard team gone in the first round that never had any realistic shot to win the title, much less a non playoff team.

I think I watched maybe 3-4 Hog football games this season and maybe 4-5 Raiders games all in the early season. Maybe it's just getting older and enjoying doing funner things to me on Sats/Suns idk.

Hog baseball is the one I still try and watch the majority of the games and learn the team because any given year could be a championship team.

Nah I mean even for pro sports. Taking that 2020 year off was a godsend looking back now. I don't miss my sports addiction where I was watching 155/162 Cards games per season, every NFL game, every CFB CBB game etc.

But like I said as well, some of it is probably getting older and enjoying other things more.

It's worse in college than in other sports though. The difference in the 8th best team and the 25th best team is massive in college. The NFL has some really great parity. NIL has made the top ~10 teams closer, but further away from the rest of the pack

Even if you are terrible in the NFL, that just means your chances of drafting the next generational QB (who will take you from terrible to competitive at a minimum immediately) are that much better. In college the worse you are, the worse your future looks

The best thing about the NFL is that one good draft class and your team can go from say the 3 win Texans to division champion playoff team just like that. Quick turnarounds in one offseason are very achievable.

This is probably part of your problem. If I lived in the outdoor playground of the PNW, I'd probably watch like half of the games I watch now

Baseball is the only thing that moves the needle for me anymore. It at least somewhat resembles what college sports were.

Just glad I've gotten to experience two titles with them! They are the only one of my teams that have actually won anything in my lifetime

And got to watch us shite away natty in Omaha on the front row by the Hog dugout.

That's winning right there.

I've been watching way more pro than college lately. I used to watch college football and basketball in all conferences all the time. I just don't enjoy it anymore. Us sucking certainly is contributing, but I don't watch Minor league baseball or G-league NBA and college is basically that now.

Welcome to old age.

Saw it with my dad

I reached that point a few years ago.

Dad and I used to watch every game together, when we couldn't watch them we'd call at halftime to talk.

Gone are those days. Neither of us really care if we watch a game. I turned it on last night with about 8 min left. I had some hope Cal would reinvigorate some of my passion but beating cream puffs while getting killed by actual competition just isn't going to do it.

Pretty much this. I think our fanbase is going through it faster because we have just seen disappointment after disappointment, but I think most fanbases are going to come to this realization as soon as they hit a dry spell.

As a 7 year old I remember the 1964 football season. I was a hooked razorback fan. With my leather bound transistor radio I listened to every razorback game riding the emotional wave of victories and defeats. As a season ticket holder I attended Little Rock and Fayetteville games until I could not longer afford the price of season tickets. I have recorded and replayed 100's of football and basketball games, the 1976 Orange Bowl being my favorite. This Saturday I did something I have never done in my life. I purposely did not watch the Arkansas vs Florida basketball game. To me if felt like it would be a waste of time. I share the originators comment, I don't think I care anymore.

Do you know how many times, on this board alone, we have heard this story. Dude, I am not making fun of you, but ... maybe just a different perspective.

You cared enough to come to a Razorback Message Board and let it all out.

I mean? C'mon now...

I do believe that most of us care less... We have to, to survive our fandom, right?

I mean, if not... why come here to share with your therapy group?

I have slowly divested some of my interest, but have kept watching. I watcheg the game, while working on taxes on the comp. TV on mute.. Would take a gander periodically, shake my head, and continue taxes...

ETAL!...

Well then I guess you should resign from all your commentating and radio jobs Chuck
