Endowment and Athletic Revenue Smack. Will Football and Basketball need to spin off?

Where's that dingy blonde claiming aggy has more money than Texas? 
I think we all knew (except aggy) that Texas has more money as a school and Athletic Department than any other SEC school. This is not the important thing. The important thing is the potential that the revenue earning sports, Football and Basketball, will spin off as independent sports from their current Athletic Departments. It's clear from the information and links below that the SEC is very good at raising money for athletics as is the B1G. Indeed, much better for athletics than academics. SEC has 11 schools in the top 30 revenue earners, B1G has 10.
NIL is not really being raised for Track and Field, Lacrosse, Rowing, Volleyball, Soccer, etc. No doubt, we're headed toward a 40-60 team league in Football. After schools spin off the revenue sports, another realignment will occur. Thoughts are somewhat scattered, but no doubt, big change is coming to Athletic Departments.
One last comment, At Ease everyone about the revenue list. This is data I found complete. Teams will jump around a few positions year to year, but for the most part this is a fairly good approximation of recent historical positions.

I'm not sure what you are saying here, but those wonks are never going to dip into their endowments for athletics. It is the other way around. Some schools have received millions from their athletic depts.

I guess what I'm trying to point out is that the disparity of revenue between schools will ultimately drive the new realignment. Those that are not fully committed to the revenue generating sports will be left out or not be able to compete. For example, Miss. and Miss. St. are ranked 30 and 40 respectively for revenue. I'm guessing that is going to be borderline to a cutoff level. Memphis is ranked at 60 with about $62MM in revenue. Would Memphis be able to compete against SEC and B1G schools all generating over $100MM in football or basketball?, maybe basketball. I would suggest that different leagues/conferences will exist for football and basketball.
If a schools academic side needs to pull money from the athletic department, then they'll be left behind or placed in some minor conference once the realignment of the "Super" schools occur.

Works for me. I am ready for football and basketball to spin off into their own leagues so I can go back to watching college students play. I will be perfectly fine with Patriot league talent levels as long as it says Gators on their helmets. Everyone get's into school on their own merit with the rest of the students.

School endowment is tangential to athletics as it is not used for coaching salaries or player pay/benefits. Some universities do use their endowment investment income to help pay for stadiums and other athletics-related buildings.
Anyway, it is entirely likely that a state university that is not in the top 10 for endowment size might still have alumni that are very keen on their football program and they will open their wallets to support it.

Some schools include separate medical schools and other campuses in their endowment to inflate their ranking, even though the campus and endowment is a separate entity that has its own priorities. The U of Alabama for example includes the UAB medical school's endowment, which is at least as big as the main campus endowment if not bigger and is legally obligated to be used at the UAB medical school.
Texas' endowment numbers may or may not include MD Anderson and the other medical campuses, but IIRC they do not include the satellite schools like UTD and UTSA. UT's endowment numbers are among the hardest to figure out accurately in the nation, all we know for sure is that it is YUUUUGGEEEE.
UCLA plays similar games as part of the massive UC system.
All that to say, it's hard to use endowment as a metric of much of anything useful WRT to sports.

Texas playing an SEC schedule gave them 8 home games this year, in addition to the 1st Round CFP home game.
With 2 more games at DKR, I would expect Texas' revenue to jump substantially just on that metric, regardless of the SEC bump.

This is what I want. Start a minor league for NFL and get rid of all of those that want to get paid. Let’s get back to college kids playing football for colleges.

I don't think that's how it's going to work. You can't have 100k seat stadiums with Ivy League talent on the field. Universities will probably license the use of their name and logo, and lease out the facilities to pro development teams.
