They should not get auto bids. It should be entirely up to the top 12 ranked teams.

I know this won't happen but they need to do away with conference championship games. Take the top 12 period, not that I think there should be 12 teams because there is never 12 teams that are capable of winning the ship.

The one team in the top 12 that got left out got beat by an unranked team

Texas took out 2 conference champions in back to back weeks.

There’s 0 teams with a home loss to a 4-8 team left in the CFP too.

Texas is an embarrassment to the conference and just needed little some help to win against a team that has 0 five star recruits on the roster.

i wouldn't say ever. 5-6 years ago if you had told me that they were going to 12 teams, and in year 1 both LSU and BAMA would miss the playoffs, we'd both laugh in their faces.
the landscape of building depth on top of depth with the elites is fading, and that talent is being disbursed throughout some of the teams that were a bit behind several years back. it may take a few more years, but i can see the number of actual contenders being in the 8-10 range sooner rather than later.
and quite honestly, its refreshing to see other teams in. dynasties are only fun to that fanbase. cfb is gaining some momentum with more teams having a chance.......however, there are fans losing interest due to NIL AND the free transfer, which i think both will be adjusted soon as well. but its cfb's free agency that the nfl implemented and created some parity.
eta: i agree with doing away with the cg's, was just saying in a few years i can see several more teams with viable odds to be legit contenders.

I don’t see how you can watch the Texas/ASU game yesterday and come to this conclusion.

Y’all should just be counting your blessings.

I mean Clemson had to go on a true road game against a top 10 team and Boise was 2 missed FG from it being a one score game late in the game.
Oregon got blown out worse than both those teams

I looked the last CFP poll for every year since 2014. Couldn't find a year where 12 teas deserved a shot at the natty. Most seasons I couldn't find 8 teams.
In a perfect world we wouldn't know how many teams will be in the playoffs util after the conference championship games. Some years it might be 6, or 4. Other years maybe 8. I don't think it should ever be more than 8.
This year has bolstered my belief. There have been 8 playoff games. 1 of them was close.

Some people just have an agenda that they can't get away from.
The Peach Bowl was the best game of the postseason so far.
Oregon just got DESTROYED by Ohio St, so I guess they didn't deserve their autobid for winning the Big 10....

I’m torn on conf. champs NOT getting a p/o auto bid.
*This is based on talks of what the 2025 p/ovmight be.

Did you miss the part where I said that most years I couldn't find 8 teams?

In a 12 team playoff, all the conference champs (sans Clemson) who have already lost still would have gotten in, auto-bid or not. And if you think ASU losing in double OT or undefeated Oregon losing means they didn’t deserve a bid, not sure what to tell you.

Boise’s penalties, turnovers, and missed FGs is why that game played out like it did. If you want to argue the bye qualifications need to change, I’m fine with that, and it looks like that’s being discussed. On a side note, the SEC hasn’t exactly shown its strength this year, so if you’re implying that 3 loss SEC teams should have gotten in over other teams, I’m not so sure I can buy that argument

Weird flex, seeing as Texas lost their own conference championship game the previous week.

Did you miss the part where I said moving forward with this free agency and you compared that to the last 14 years?
