quote:
First and foremost, thank you for being a part of my life. Each one of you has brought joy, love, and meaning to my days, and I am profoundly grateful for the moments we shared. Whether we laughed together, cried together, or simply sat quietly, every moment we spent together has been a treasure.
To my family, you have been my rock, my support, and my source of unconditional love. I am so proud of each of you and the wonderful people you have become. Please know that I carry your love with me, and I leave behind my love for you. Cherish each other, support one another, and keep our family bond strong because it is who I am.
To my friends, you have been my sidekick, teammates and accomplices in this thing called life. Your friendship has been a gift that I will cherish forever. Thank you for the adventures, the laughter, and the understanding. Hold onto the memories we created and let them bring a smile to your face when you think of me and comfort you in times of sorrow.
Life has been filled with ups and downs, joys and challenges, but through it all, I have been blessed beyond measure. I encourage you to live each day with gratitude, kindness, and love. And remember to take time for the simple pleasures, to laugh often, and to share your love generously Because none of this cost you a dime but are worth more than gold.
As I move closer to saying goodbye, I want you to know that I am at peace. I have faith in the journey ahead and trust that I will be reunited with you in spirit. Please do not grieve me because I left it all on the field. Instead, celebrate the life we shared and the love that will always connect us.
This has been a beautiful journey. All I ask of is that you follow me to the grand finally to see me walk again. And hear “Well done” as our greeting.
With every ounce of my love,
Kerry “KG” Goode #35

Thanks for posting. I saw that on LinkedIn yesterday and thought about posting, but didn't do so.
He posted a follow-up message (I think today) indicating that shortly after his diagnosis, he learned what the signs were that the time was growing short. Apparently he is seeing some of those. In particular, he said that for the last three weeks he's had to fight for every breath.
He has shown remarkable courage and transparency throughout this battle.

Them Town Creek boys were special.
Chris, Pierre and then Antonio (cousin) were something else, and it was well known that no school in the state wanted a piece of 2A Hazelwood during their title runs.

Was Chris Hood a cousin?
Losing Goode in '84 really hurt us. He came back in '85 but he was never the same.

I'm not sure if Hood was related.
I want to say there has been 9 players from there that went to Bama.
Montoya Madden & Tarrant Lynch were a few more from the 90s.
Courtney Rose was another, but signed with AU.

I think Robert Jones was from there also

There was Chris, Kerry, Clyde and Pierre. Chris Hood was a cousin and I’m thinking Antonio Langham was too.
For such a small school, Hazlewood produced a crazy amount of football talent.

I have been a big fan of Kerry Goode ever since that fateful night back in ‘84 when Alabama and BC played. I watched that game. I saw his amazing ability. He was a special player. Then, the injury. Even though I was a student at Auburn at the time, I became a Kerry Goode fan. Kerry is the epitome of class and I cheered him on through every step of his recovery, all the way through his college career and his all too brief pro career. Forget football, Kerry is a special person. I know his playing career didn’t turn out like he wanted, but I’m betting he had a bigger, more important impact on the people around him by how he handled life’s detour. God’s plans are always better than our own. And now, he’s doing it again. Setting the example for all of us. Kerry, you are a great man. And I’m praying for you and your loved ones. Thank you to the mods for letting me post.
